Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Click here to show this review. I normally avoid these types of films like the plague they usually are. However I gave this one a chance thanks mostly to the central premise of a married and recently dumped Steve Carell being mentored by suave ladies man Ryan Gosling into rediscovering his inner man. Unfortunately this film covers a lot more ground than just that, dealing with a plethora of unrequited love tangents with people of all ages. (Carell's son is in love with his babysitter, but guess who she's got the hots for? )The movie is basically that simple. What makes it tolerable is Gosling with lines like "repeat after me "You are better than the Gap" and "The minute woman started doing pole dancing as exercise the battle of the sexes was over". But even he falls prey to the admittedly beyond words adorable Emma Stone. Their chemistry is terrific and the two of them should have had a lot more screen time together. Good date movie, and quite funny at times. Final note, I love Julianne Moore for both aesthetic and talent reasons but I haven't been able to stand any of the characters she's played in a long time with the possible exception of A Single Man. Is it just me?
