The fact that a third Insidious entry could even exist after the two shoddy efforts that came before it is proof of just how undemanding horror audiences can be. Remember the good old days when trilogies were reserved for movies like Star Wars, The Godfather, Back to the Future and Beverly Hills Cop? You know, films people actually liked. Nowadays any overproduced schlock, that confuses loud, startling noises with tension gets multiple chapters. Writer/director Leigh Whannell and lead actors Lin Shaye and Dermot Mulroney are clearly professionals. Why they would waste their talents on tripe this is unclear, though it's probably for the same reason the studios keep making them, because they make money. God only knows why? For the only people this film and others like it could convincingly scare are 13 yr old girls who still scream when a insect run across the floor.
