When Trainspotting met Sally in Paradise No matter WHAT you were told, this is NOT a lesbian film: it's a story of an infatuation, it just happens to be between two girls. This is one of those movies where nothing is happening, and the actors look like people rather than hollywood types. Yet this movie has some of the truest acting and dialogue I've ever witnessed: Radha Mitchell [thouroughly excellent], getting sick of her boyfriend's unsubtle allusions, goes: "I didn't sleep with Lucy!" - counteracts: "You working up to it?", after an hesitation, she goes just plain "I don't know." One could argue that she is unconvincing about falling in love. She's not. She's not falling in love, she's just infatuated with her new friend, and she plays her confusion perfectly. Which also amounts to the best love scene I've ever seen, not 'cause it's naked and hot [see Showgirls for that] but 'cause it's too f'n HONEST. Slow-paced, no climax, bitter ending, GREAT FILM. [NOT for everybody -- be warned]
