  This movie would have worked better as a small budget, independent film - the expectations of the mass audience for large budget American films are totally different. It is not an easy film to get into. The story is difficult to follow and the director adopts a narrative style that is jarring at times. That said, it is an unusual film by a major director, well acted and scripted. The movie’s saving grace is that the characters are very sympathetic. If you are willing to trust the director, it’s a wild ride that is quite affecting in the end.
