And the toned-down approach to Judd Apatow's films might've worked, but Drillbit Taylor suffers from a poor and cliched plot about a bodyguard hired by kids to protect them from the school bullies. Owen Wilson neutral and not at his best in the titular role. The two nerdy kids were great because you could believe in their roles, and they were genuinely funny. However the fat one was very repetitive with his jokes, and kind of dried out the laughs after a while. The bullies were unbelievable in the fact they stayed unnoticed for that long. There were some funny moments, but not enough to save this movie from being your run-of-the-mill comedy.
