He passed away in 1996, and filmmaker Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) decided to direct Kieslowski's script. Kieslowski's style is extremely subtle as is this script. Tykwer's grandoise cinematography and minimalist music ultimately makes the finished film a little hard to swallow. The film certainly has its moments and I'd certainly recommend it - but in the end, Heaven is a beautiful script turned into a pretentious and arty film.
