NARC was real! It felt real. The opener of this film will turn your stomach if you think about it too much. The colors are cold. Joe Carnahan uses the ice cold blue tones to their maximum and achieves a level in filming that is often attempted but rarely mastered. Where Joe leaves off with the ambience, Jason Patric and Ray Liotta pick-up in acting. I have never really liked Ray Liotta all that much and I had lost all respect for Jason after Speed 2. Jason redeems himself here beyond reproach and Ray gives you a performance that will make you respect him. Of the two actors, I think Jason had the more difficult job of pulling the audience into the icy-cold setting of this movie (believe me, the lack-of-color is actually pretty beautiful) Jason Patric did such a great job that I felt compelled to write this to promote NARC. I highly recommend this movie if you like movies that are dark and disturbing to the status quo. NARC will definitely go into my DVD library when it arrives on that format. So, stop reading this review and go see this wonderful movie.
