I was amazed to see the adverse reactions of some people to this movie. Not enough action, too long, too predictable, blah blah blah... doesn't anyone have any imagination anymore? What about attention span?? I thought this movie was very multi-layered. The setting: a psychological boxing ring. This kind of movie demands a lot of energy and focus from an actor. Matt Damon, Jude Law and Cate Blanchett gave wonderful performances. Gwyneth was a bit pretentious and perhaps a bit melodramatic in places but that might have been an imitation of the "formula acting" from the 50's which seemed to suit her role. In context with the time period, I thought that the too-good-to-be-true look to the whole thing seemed to enrich the mood. I loved the soundtrack too! The jazz iconoclasts were a bit much though. Anyway, I had a great time and I hope that anyone who sees this film will enjoy it. Movies are fun, people! We seem to take them too seriously nowadays. :)
