Cate Blanchett must have played Veronica Gurein well as I thought the woman was totally bonkers! It leaves one wondering about her sanity? Why would she feel she nor her family would not be hurt or encroached on by those criminals? She seems to be coddled and indulged by her family and colleagues as she forsakes her son to obsessively pursue "the story"!! Her interview techniques were questionable, brash and egocentric. You wonder, is this is good journalism? I felt she found a venue in which to launch herself in the media, with little real compassion for the children who were dying, (in more ways than one), on the streets. Where were the social interventions for youth and drug addiction? Do they not exist in Ireland? She exposed the criminals, who themselves seemed above any law. Now the laws that protected criminal activity have changed, the bad guys have gone to jail and a son is left without his mom after the killing of Veronica Guerin. I am left shaking my head!
