It took place in an interesting time and place -- the coming of the trains in the frontier west. You could see corporate america taking control of everyday life, even back then. There was an intriguing relationship developing between the main characters, but then it all dissolved into the shoot'em up formula. Way too much violence and a maudlin ending where the bad guy shows that he has some good to the young boy.
