This movie has a lot of heart - portraying a group of women working in a beauty salon. They all have their own aspirations and disappointments. One has unrequited love for a married man, another is gay (again unrequited).. It also shows that desires and frustrations are much the same across different cultures. That desire would be to have a fulfilling, lasting relationship with another human being. The movie's setting is Beirut, which would seem to be somewhat more conservative than North America and Europe - all a woman needs here to reserve a hotel room is a credit card and internet access (not so sure about the biblical mid-west - but that's another issue) Also another woman undergoes an operation for the sake of her relationship - the details of which I will not go into here. Aside from that, the story is heart-warming and about real people with no grandiose emotional explosions. The musical accompaniment was most appropriate. There is NO Hollywood (Bollywood) wrap around where they all live and love happily ever after. There is a certain melancholia permeating the entire movie.
