I thought it was alright. Didn't think that the little girl really did anything though. She was supposed to be writing an essay and ended up in a film. I also feel for the people hurt by Hurricane Katrina but this film didn't focus on that. Instead it made it mostly about some little girl. I went to school with a guy from New Orleans and he told me of the hardships that his family faced and I found that much more intriguing/moving than this film did. But it was definitely better than the Dinosaurs Alive movie. That was pure agony.

I found it boring as it lacked any real plot or substance, with the exception of a few good ariel shots. Also CNN had better footage on the hurricane than this documentary did. The message was very convoluted and had little impact. It could have been much more powerful.

Very disappointed. There's about 5 minutes of interesting footage - some of an alligator swimming around, and some impressive overhead shots of the effects of the hurricane after it has passed through. But the storyline was agonizingly staged, and any messages the film tries to convey were pretty much incoherent. There's also no actual imax footage of the hurricane itself, just a little bit of simulation - this portion of the film is padded with grainy footage from CNN. Terribly disappointing.

The reviews for this are very off putting - please ignore. This film was very touching look at the Katrina disaster. Yes, there was music and musicians - oh wait - that's what New Orleans is all about! Amazing shots, like always, and a very touching story line. I really enjoyed it. New Orleans suffered a huge tragedy and this film helps us re-evaluate the situation.

If it was playing on the discovery channel, you wouldn't even watch it, unless you where half asleep on the couch. On an Imax screen it just might be enough to get you out of your semi-comatose state. This documentary doesn't suit the Imax screen, nothing spectacular in terms of images, no awe. Information wise, the whole thing can be summarized in one phrase. Hurricane Katrina was devastating (go figure) and we must save the wetlands. Stay home and watch the discovery channel, it's much cheaper and much more entertaining.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
I saw this in New Orleans expecting to see an insightful documentary with amazing footage of the storm and it's aftermath. But all I got was an a boring, staged story of an annoying young girl and her lame musician friends. The best/worst scene is when one of the musician characters is "writing" a song on a dock on the bayou, pretending to have just come up with a great line for a song about the bayou. Imax: Hurricane on the Bayou sounds like it could be an incredible film; I say it should be seen because of how absolutely horrible and laughable it is.
