For it's type, it has to get top ratings. Stallone looks fantastic. As is the case in all Rambo movies it traffics in the morality of violence against violence. On the one hand one might argue that it exploits a major expression of genocide to justify this rationale in an action film. However, there is also the sense that Stallone is using an action flick to bring a higher level of awareness to a form of violence his audience to easily disgregards. Maybe then the round of applause at the end of the film was for the sense of pathos and horror that he created through his directorial vision. Or maybe it was just for reasons such as the one I heard on my way out the door: "Did you see all the times he stabbed Dude in the back!" As a moral philosophy (we need to kill the people who kill people) I think it is a bad idea. But the only film I know about the real cause and solution (international weapons trafficking) is Lord of War. And the people who watch the documentaries are the only people who don't need to.
