To be honest, I'm halves (50/50) on this movie. I totally enjoyed the CG and though it was very inventive and genius. On the other half, a kids movie feature-focused on black magic I find a huge turnoff. My girlfriend was horribly offended with the premise of movie, and I wouldn't recommend parents to blink at the thought of paying to see this with them. Was also put-off by a fake climax partway through the movie, hurray it's over! Oh... still about and hour to go. Not to be seen in my ever growing collection of dvd or blu-ray. Koo-doos guys.

I really enjoyed the characters and the world that Shane Acker created. A must see for anyone who loves animation.

I liked this movie, but the story was quite predictable and this in the end brings it down from being a good movie, animation-wise quite good but not great.

There was no character development and the dialogue was poorly written. For instance, you dont get the chance to find out why 6 is the way he is, why 1 is the way he is, etc. I think this story is a creative idea, but needed to be developed further.

It SUCKED. Do not see it. I was so disappointed with Tim Burton. Every bit of it stunk (except for the animation) I still can't believe how much it SUCKED.

I can see why some people might see the story as inadequate - it would need another hour to get the storyline and characters well developed. The ending is kinda weak as well. But there's just something about these doll-like creatures that gets to me. Highly recommended over most of the other current screening films.

This movie (9) is not worthy of the big screen - more like something you would rent if you were really bored and nothing else was available. Story was same same - we've seen a thousand times before - very predictable. Depth to characters or story - there was none. Saving grace - animation was very well done. Overall not worth the money unless you are a HUGE Tim Burton fan - otherwise skip it.

Amazing visual effects and cinematography. My only knock against it was that the ending seemed to be rushed. I also was shocked to see parents bringing kids to this movie... it's definitely not for young children!

It was great :D I'd been looking forward to it for ages, and it didn't let me down. Maybe a little short, but the animation is absolutely beautiful. See it for the eyecandy, if nothing else!!

Usually successful movies have a good story. Remarkably this one didn't seem to, perhaps it was a case of Hollywood egos getting in the way with each one trying to 'fix' it instead of letting the script writers do their job... On the plus side it was phenomenal animation and production. It should have been an extraordinary film, instead, it was plagued by a serious lack of any believable motivation or drive to move the action forward. The premise just seemed old, tired and hackneyed. I regret not staying home with my copy of Margaret Atwoods excellent new book...

The animation was amazing and that is enough to get it a six, but in addition the story and the moral behind it was deep - I think anyone who wrote about a lack of plot just obviously couldn't grasp what statement the writers/producers were trying to get across. Very well done, very though provoking for an animated film.

I love movies by Tim Burton, and this one is no exception. I just love the smoothness of the characters movements, and how they show so much emotion! The fact that they look so cute doesn't hurt either! If you like movies that surprise you, yet don't completely scare you, this movie is a must-see for you!

Very disappointing. It had all the elements of being a great animated film, and fell flat. The plot line had no purpose to it. It didn't really start or go anywhere. Really too bad, because I really wanted to like this movie. Seriously, who thought Tim Burton could have produced a pointless movie?

I had been anticipating this movie for almost a year and saw it a few days after release. Needless to say I was dissapointed. This is one of those movies that starts out with much mystery leaving the viewer waiting for an explanation of it all. This would be fine if the explanation wasn't retarded and actually made a little bit of sense. I give it a 6 because the animation was great and it was very entertaining but the ending was a HUGE let down. Could have been MUCH better.

The plot was weak but the animation was fantastic. Effectively set a post-apocalyptic melancholy mood without capitalizing on it by investing us in the characters.

'9' is basically just the middle of a so-so movie... and not in a good way (it CAN be done that way) There is arguably no real point to the plot, other than the tired Shelley ideal of mankind going to far with science, but that's just the director's point. I only give it a 5 because the animation was superb. 8 for visuals, 1-2 for story/delivery.

This movie delivered everything u could expect for making a good movie. I was surprisingly entertained the whole movie. The whole dark post apocalyptic atmosphere and stunning cgi was enough to keep u glued to the screen. If this movie was rated low by anyone, it's prob due to the lack of insight on what the movie's point was, but anyone with common sense could tell what the point is and understand it. In short, go see it.

Good movie, worth seeing :) For creatures that are made from a human soul, they lack heart, but other than that its suspenseful and cute and dark :) Although to tell you the truth if it were actual humans and not animated, it would've been a really really gory , movie :)

"9" was a good movie that could have been better. The fact that it was one of the shortest movies I have watched in a while would not have been bad if not for the fact that they could have used that time to explain a few things or even put a bit more effort into the ending. What confused me is simply this, if they are suppose to be different parts of the soul then wouldn't it mean that with on of them dying the whole is... well incomplete?!? Go watch it a the theater for the eye candy but go at a matinee.

Even though I believe the plot could have used some more time for us to get to know the characters in a non combative situation, I was still satisfied, as the graphics were phenomenal, the voice work was spot on, and the post apocolyptic setting was beyond creepy. I hope this sets the standard for more adult oriented animation yet to come.

"9" is a unique movie thats for sure. From the first 15 minutes on it was action packed and full of unique characters, but I wouldn't expect anything else from Tim Burton. Yes, the plot was lacking structure and the ending could have been stronger, but overall, the movie was very interesting. 10/10 for originality and creativity. Tim Burton definitely thinks out of the box, and "9" is no exception.
