The script could be much better. There are scenes which are not realistic. No swimmer would attempt to quit while his team members are in the pool and depending on him to finish a relay no matter what self doubts he had. Also, in order to create suspense at the end of the relay at the National Championships, the positions and times did not come up immediately. I do not know if that is how it was in 1974 but I have never been to a swim meet where you have electronic timing and the positions do not come up immediately even if a change has to be made afterwards. That made the movie lack authenticity but Terrence Howard was very good and would have been even better with a better script. I also did not understand why his love interest was so upset when he fought off the drug dealers who had wrecked the center. Are we supposed to sit by and allow hooligans and criminals to take over our space. If more people fought back the criminals would not have such a free reign. He probably went a bit too far but it was quite understandable. Only if this incident was historically accurate should it have been shown like that.

I find it sad that people would downplay the merits of this movie because they don't like to face the race card. Racism exists, and pretending that it doesn't even in Montreal is blindness. Having that said," Pride" is to "Remember the Titans" what margarine is to butter: lesser acting, lesser intensity.

No no... This movie is awful... Awful awful... Just your typical, triumphant, overly-dramatic, unrealistic movie... Only this time they play the race card - and a very inaccurate race card at that... Lame.

It was OK. Seems like there's many films with this kind of format. Very Hollywood but Terrence Howard is a great actor so it makes up for all the cliches

This movie was fantastic. I cant tell you how moved I was as a person who enjoys swimming. Seeing how someone who had such a great passion and was able to share that through who he is. Just awesome!
