It's been a while since I've cared so much for the characters in a horror movie. Usually I just don't care whether they live or die, I just want to see gore. However I felt the story could've been shorter...

I loved this one. It had everything. The director did a fantastic job at playing with the audience's emotions, as well as throwing in important messages about social issues plaguing Korea, socio-economic status and human nature. Full of action, satire and quirky humour... And the special effects of the monster were extremely well done. Just awesome!

It’s ‘The Thing’ or ‘Alien’ Korean style! It’s a tough movie to evaluate. It’s funny at times and you do get to jump a few time. The giant squid is ugly and it’s not in a good mood. The acting: the father and son play very badly, why didn’t the director see thru this I don’t know. Then again, most Asians films I have seen, with few exceptions, are plagued by poor acting (nothing personal) The young teen in the story is surprisingly good, but her role is secondary. Special effects are excellent except for the fire thing. The story line is ok. All in all worth seeing. I give it a 7½.
