No Country for Old Men [2007] Movie Reviews on CinemaClock

This is a great dramatization of a book written by one of America's great contemporary novelists. I thought the Cohen brothers did a good job of bringing that to life, particularly because you can fairly easily fall asleep in one of those Texas Drawl films. I do think there was a balance problem in the film -- I mean I get that real life situations have central characters just drop out of the picture with a feeling of irrelevance associated with their deaths and with the meaning of their lives -- that's probably happen to all of us. So I go to movies looking for one of two things, I want a structure that carries the main character through to resolution or I want an ironic commentary that is worth the disappointment of that not being there. Really, Sean Penn's film THE PLEDGE made this discontinuity comment in popular film five years ago. No need to see it again. If there was another point, that the world is a tough place, well send it to me in a memo. Other than that, it was a very powerful film.
