Not sure how to rate this movie it was a good sci-fi, but I think it fell flat for most of it. IF you are going to make a sci-fi movie at least have the decency, as a film maker, not to assume your audience is a idiot. The actions of the characters were so laughable and so cliche it was almost like chinese water torture for a period of the movie and got to the point were you wished that one or two of the main characters would meet an untimely demise (especially that stupid kid!) The script should have been reworked big time because of this so that you sympathize with the plight of the main characters and with the struggle's they face and not to hope that they meet an early demise and die off so that the story can become more bearable. This was a reworked sci-fi film that was trying to be a bit of a action movie with a "deep moral message" with a load of CGI effects with... you get the picture. Unfortunately like most movies that try to be everything is that they just come out horrible, Id' give a 8 for acting 4 for script (which is saying something considering it's a remake of BOTH a movie and a book so it's not even an original script and they still butchered it), so I would average it out to a 6. I would normally give a extra point cause Jennifer Connelly is in it but I just cant for this movie.
6/10
