I really enjoyed this honest and daring attempt by director Rawson Thurber and featuring the ever talented Peter Sarsgaard (who I happen to admire a lot), John Foster, Sienna Miller and Nick Nolte! I enjoyed it despite the childish-like noises and silly comments such as 'disgusting' or 'sick' by the other members of the audience attending the premier, once they discovered that both John Foster and Peter Sarsgaard are bisexual in the story and in love with each other although they are also in love with the same woman! ; Come on folks... This is the year 2009 for Christ's sake! ; Wake up and smell the coffee! ; We are all fully aware of the presence of gays and bisexuals in our society and so what is the problem in having that portrayed on the big screen? ; I don't mean to sound fascicious but chances are that many of you-and you know who you are-are either Gay or bisexual yourselves and a movie like this probably acts like a mirror to that secret part of your souls that you haven't fully embrased yet! The so called 'Closet' isn't just occupied by scared gays and lesbians you know!. Their are all kinds of people hidden there! The Mysteries Of Pittsburg is a very good cinematic adaptation from a novel by American Author Michael Chabon. Set during the early 1980's, it is the story of colledge graduate Art Bechstein (Played by John Foster) who is the son of a mob money launderer (brilliantly played by Nick Nolte)- who falls in love with a charming young man (played by Peter Sarsgaard) and a beguiling young woman by the name of Phlox Lombardi (played by Sienna Miller) An excellent perfomance by Sarsgaard who had played the roles of gay and bisexual men in the past-Such as the one opposite Ben Kinsley in the movie 'Kinsey'. He once said and I quote: 'I just pick the best roles that are left over, and they usually aren't the heterosexual, leading-man, non-drug-addict parts. And once you get into doing them, people know you do them'. A good movie worth seeing! Enjoy!
