A peek at the world of snuff in pornography. Avoids glorifying the disgusting nature of snuff. Satisfying end.

Thought it was going to be better. Weak plot development. Could have been a 'Seven' type movie but wasn't.

This theme of this movie was extremely disturbing and really made me wonder if such things exist in this world. Of course it is naive of me to think they don't, but I was blown away with this movie. Joaquin Phoenix was very memorable and Nicolas Cage is always great. Over all I was glued to the set watching 8 mm.

Where is the true about this film? I mean, for food you can learn more about specific culture; it is the same thing with movies. For American people the most important thing is violence and lost human values. Some times the real word is worst; we can see some pics from Irak about American soldiers. The story is not new, and the play is fake.

Quite interesting. Some disturbing scenes, but deals with a topic that deserved attention so that people are aware that things like that really do occur in our society. The movie kept me really wanting to see more, I did not want to leave my seat. Nicolas Cage did very well.

A movie worth the watch. Nicolas Cage is an phenominal actor, The story line is a shocking portrayal of underground porn. The movie is about a rich woman that hires Nicolas Cage to locate a missing girl. As Nicolas delves farther into the case the story becomes even more chilling and shocking. Providing an insight into a world that is not seen by many.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] 8mm was a movie that was different then I thought it would be... it's a rivetting story about a private detective... whos is reserved, complicated a perfectionast and kind of dreary man that is put on a case by a woman who has just lost her husband... the Originality and controversial issue of snuff movies makes the movie more interesting and surreal in a weird sorta way... The detectives journey turns him into a massive ball of emotional and confused turmoil as he gets deeper and deeper into the investigation... he makes a choice of leaving his family to try and make things right with the missing girl and her family and specially for the lady who is paying him to do so... He ends up losing all sense of right and wrong in the end and decides to take things into his own hands... and goes nuts... only to find out that what he has done was the right thing in his mind but wrong in the end... but to him he makes it better... Its awesome... riveting... awesome story and plot and Nicholas Cage plays a great part in the story... brings himself to different levels of thinking and beleifs... GO SEE Ittt.

I thought this movie was extremely well made. I sat at the edge of my seat throughout the whole film. It really shows the viewer the reality behind snuff films... the lives affected by and within the underground porn industry. Excellent.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I think that this is a very good movie worth the watch for sure. But I would say it is the type of movie that you enjoy a lot more when it is somebody elses money that rents it. Nicolas Cage is as always an intense and phenominal actor, and the porn shop attendant turned assistant is good looking in a rock star sort of way. The story line is a shocking portrayal of underground snuff and porn. The movie is about a rich woman that hires Nicolas Cage to locate a missing girl. As Nicolas delves farther into the case the story becomes even more chilling and shocking. Providing an insight into a world that is not seen by many.

What can I say - Nicolas Cage is talented person. Movie keeps you involved in what's happening. It turns out, shows, another side of the world - dark and gloomy side, that lives by bloody rules. For those who liked it I'd reccomend another Great movie with Nicolas Cage - Matchstick Man - unpredicteble end.

There is no chance to see such a smart, powerful and emotional movie like 8mm last time. You feel strong connection with reality, with a dark side of rial life. All scenes and music in the movie are very vell done. Nicolas Cage was perfect, as usualy. When I watched the movie, I felt like I play with him in one team. After the movie I couldn't sleep at all.

I really liked this movie for the way it kept you on the edge of your seat. Nicholas Cage is great in it and it's hardv to think he was in Valley girl when you see him preform in this. The movie is a little twisted in the story line but a great viewing show.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I dont know why some people hate this movie. But it's a good movie. The story has connections with reality, and things going on in the world today. Things like that really do happen, just like in the movie, there are people who do horrible things because they "like" them. In the end of the movie, Tom Welles murders one of the guys after telling the girls mom and asking the mom if she wanted the men who did it dead. Also the guy with the mask, almost killed Tom when he threw the knive at him. The movie is great because it has a 100% good ending. It also warns us about people we need to worry about today. The guy with the crossbow, he is a BAD guy in this movie, but I've seen him in Armegdeon and in that movie he isnt bad. Unexpected character for him. The sad part of the movie was that the girl was butchered and there was nothing Tom could do to bring her back, but he did get revenge for the men that did it.

This movie was a little bizarre and disturbing, but not your typical movie, so it was good in that sense.

jarvinjule@ - age: 36-49
Like so many good movies, 8mm goes that extra step to show us the reality of the situation. The underbelly of the world is not the meanderings of a psychotic, it is just a hidden reality. The director plays on all our weaknesses. There is no strong character here. Everyone is flawed and they know it. The cinematography is great in that it portrays the doom and gloom of the film. Nothing really fancy about this film other than that it plays with our emotions.

It was a suspense/thriller that dared to push the envelope. As horriffic as the crimes were, the movie when accepted as such... just a movie, was incredibly good. I have seen it about 3 times and have reccommended it.

This is a very weird movie. First of all the story is disgusting and there is absolutely no action whatsoever. It gets really boring (you may need a pillow) I don't recommend watching it. I think nicholas Cage stopped acting after the rock and face off.
