I love E. B. White and this movie was great. There is a lot to be said for values and judging others by what they can or cannot do...

Some of my favourite books as a child were by E. B. White and many of his books deal with a common 'theme' - characters with challenges overcome them. In this, Louie, the swan cannot 'trumpet' so he learns to read & write, play a trumpet and redeems his fathers' good name. Stuart Little - he's dimunitive and well, a mouse. He deals. Charlotte's Web - Wilbur is saved from being a porkchop by making him into a star and Charlotte, who dies after laying eggs finds someone to take care of her babies. This film? Very good. Fast-moving, good values, good messages. Cheerful and sweet, perfect for young children.

Well I always thought E. B. White's The Trumpet of the Swan would make a beautiful movie, and look what we got! And why did some of the swans have "hair"? The baby swans, or cygnets, which in real life would be a brownish-gray color and would have downy feathers, were just mini-versions of the adult swans. And Louie (Louis in the book) plays the trumpet using his wings as hands. In the book, he has his human friend Sam Beaver slit the webbing in his foot so he can play the trumpet easier, even though it prevented him from swimming and walking as well as he used to. I think they could have done a helluva lot better with this film, so much of the natural beauty of the book was taken from it. E. B. White must be turning over in his grave. I'm a huge animated film buff, but I have my limits. This film is one of them. After watching a purchased copy I threw it in the trash, good place for it.

It was an ok kid movie, I wouldn't have paid to see it, though.

Don't bother, it's as if they had no plan when writing this movie, truly not at all entertaining, my daughter asked to leave before it was finished. We were robbed!
