I think IN THE BEDROOM is tremendous. I've seen it three times. Sissy Spacket (sp) does a fine job. There are a few slow moments. But all in all, it's one great movie.

I would also like to mention some of the attributes that make actors performance stand out. One thing that has drawn my attention was the sound. The audience is able to hear every breath the actor takes, as if sensing their emotions. I think that the sound in this picture makes actor's performance stronger. However it is not only the sound, but also carefully designed shots that deliver the characters actions which creates powerful performance on the screen. I have always been a true fan of acting craft and I believed that the acting itself can make your movie a success, but after viewing ''In the bedroom'' I realized that combination of great acting well done camera work and sound quality can make your project worth a lot of attention. I speak of the attention that finds its roots among filmmakers and those people who understand the craft of filmmaking and has a sense of art. For the major crowd that seeks more of an entertainment and expects some excitement out of commercial films, ''In the Bedroom'' will not be appreciated as it should be.

"IN THE BEDROOM"? More like "No... Nooo... No More, Please! I'm Begging You! Shoot Me In The Head! Put Me Out Of My Misery! " Not only did I GET MY MONEY BACK, I SUED the THEATER for allowing me to see this piece of crap movie!! After two hours of long, drawn-out, repititive, excruciatingly dry, pointless, useless random scenes, I couldn't take the abuse anymore and left the theater, screaming. Critics love this movie because they only remember the first 10 minutes: before they fell in a deep coma.

To all the people who couldn't bear sit through this movie: The long, unbearable parts of this movie ARE THE WHOLE POINT. I know its hard, but sometimes its good to use your brain.

Worst movie EVER!! My sister was raving about the film, so I was really pumped to see it... the first part was enjoyable, but the monotony of the rest was unbearable! I zoned out a million times, and my friend and I chatted through it due to absolute boredom! A must-NOT see!!!

This was a very looonnnnngggg boring film. We finally near the end started fast forwarding all the parts that were useless. Do not waste the time or the money to watch this film.

I only just saw In the Bedroom after receiving a wide spectrum of opinions from family and friends. I thought the caliber of acting in this movie was unlike anything I have seen in a long time. Every character was fully developed and played extremely well by the cast. For those who thought it was "boring as hell" must not be fans of movies that make you think and instead usually opt for an action flick. This is not a movie of the action genre, nor does it make that promise and thus a movie of prolonged visual shots and drawn out dialogue should not have come as a surprise. Superbly acted and heart wrenching. The only disappointing moment was the ending... that in fact it had ended. It's not that people don't appreciate a good film, it's that they don't recognize a good film anymore. This is definitely one of those.

Personaly, I think that there is more action "in the bedroom" than in the movie. Please do me a favor by not seeing this movie.

This movie caught me by surprise. I didn't think the pace was too slow. The one thing that I kept me from giving the movie a ten was the ending... All of the fathers decisions seemed rational except for the one to take matters into his own hands. Just didn't seem as realistic as the rest of the movie.

I absolutely loved this film. The acting was amazing. Sissy Spacek, Tom Wilkinson, and Marisa Tomei should have all won Academy Awards for their brilliant work. This film had so much symbolism in it -- truly amazing. I recommend this film for any movie lover. And for those of you who gave this movie and bad rating and said it was boring: apparently you don't know pure genius when you see it.

In the Bedroom, should have been entitled: "Oh, My God, Could We Make this Movie Anymore Boring? ". It wasn't meant for the big screen; predictable the whole way through. I wouldn't recommend this movie to an inmate who hasn't watched T. V. or seen a movie in twenty years. I had a better time getting my bikini line waxed. If you're are an insomniac, this movie will cure the worse case.

This movie was so incredibly boring. It went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. If you liked that last sentence, you'll love this film. Okay, the parents aren't talking to each other. Okay, they're mad at each other. Okay, they blame each other. I get it!! I got it the first twenty times the director hit me over the head with it. I would have walked out halfway through only my foot fell asleep and I got jealous of it.

I went in thinking it was a great movie, peoples magazine said it was better than a beautiful mind neadless to say it didnt compare and I would not want to see this movie more than once unlike Lord of the rings and Harry Potter which were off the charts good!!

I gave this movie a 7 only because it is not for everyone. I was truly moved by the characters and their story... so much so, that it stayed with me for days afterward. However, some people may not be comfortable with quiet moments and unfortunately for them, this film had a lot of them. Anyone who enjoys great cinema will appreciate this film - as I did.

I absolutely loved this movie. I must say that it is not your regular blockbuster movie and some people might not share my thoughts on this. Tragic and beautiful are the two words I would use to describe this movie. The scene where the parents blame each other is heart wrenching. See it, it is a must for true movie buffs. There are many scenes that seem useless but there are meanings to them if you think about it...

Brilliant acting, but the pace is excruciatingly slow. Wilkinson is brilliant in his display of controlled anger. Recommended, but could have been 30 or 35 mins shorter and we'd be none the poorer for it.

A simple movie, In the Bedroom is more about relationships than it is about any other theme. The acting is more than superb: it is realistic and endering. One feels as though the characters are real, not just some actors putting on a show. Unlike most Hollywood films that have dealt with death, this film not only makes you understand the pain of the parents' loss, but also the origin of their emotions.

What a waste of time and money, especially at $10.50. A dark, and very slow moving, movie. What's all the hype about around this flick? When the movie ended tonight, the whole theatre sat in quiet disbelief that suddenly without warning, the end came. Perhaps it was a blessing that it DID end. I can't recommend this movie. I hope you think it's better, though I doubt it.

In The Bedroom is a rather cold film. This is, by no means, a device employed to heighten dramatic tension. This rather problematic approach is, instead, the consequence of a film fundamentally lacking in connection to its human subjects. There are solid, if not muted, performances from the cast, but there is only so much this movie can accomplish given it rudderless direction.

It is, without doubt, one of the worst movies that I have subjected myself to in a long time. It is incredible to me how such fine actresses like Sissy Spacek and Marisa Tomei could allow themselves to part of such a pile of... Nothing fitted together, nothing made sense. The only redeeming quality to this 'movie', and I use this term with the greatest of reservations, was Tom Wilkinson. The rest of this boring celluoid should go the way of dinosaurs, In other words, EXTINCT!

The spawning female lobster gets away with mutilating the male! The same happens in real life. A powerful film about the destructive power of a possessive mother/wife. A truly great film.

This movie reminds me of The Sweet Hereafter and other Atom Egoyan films. Although this is directed by Todd Field, it still carries the same depth and complexity, and is brought to the screen with a compassionate and honest hand. While admittedly it a sad and slow moving tale, it is superbly acted and directed. Unfortunately I was the only one who really like it in the theatre that I was in, so if you love the usually garbage that hollywood churns out, skip it. This movie is definitely more like the quality movies I see at film festivals than the weekly blockbusters at the cineplex.

The acting was excellent, but this alone does not make a good movie. Unclear to me on how this movie was raved about by critics. This movie was slow and extremely boring. I've gotten more out of teeney bopper flicks.

I'm only giving this movie a six on ten because of the great performance the actors gave in this movie and some of the real emotional feel you got from the characters. But all in all it was tooooo slow. Through out the movie I was saying to myself O. K. already! I get it! I get it! Now get on with it. Like I said good idea! Great acting! But way too slow.

I saw this movie because of Sissy Spacek's nomination, and heard it was excellent. I was honestly dissapointed with the movie. However, I was fascinated with Tom Wilkinson's performance (the father) , I thought he was the one who stole the show. I can see how true drama movie fans would see this movie as a great piece of filmaking, but the story has been done before and the movie is generally slow. It was a nice change of pace from the blow em up, shoot em up hollywood garbage, but I believe you could still enjoy this movie by renting it and saving yourself the extra money!

This was a well crafted and, more importantly, well acted film. I find it depressing to read people's comments about this, and other, movies. Did I even see the same movie as some of these other people. How could anyone not recognize the greatness of the two lead performances in this film. Sissy Spacek's controlled, understated performance was one of the most true-to-life depictions I think I have ever seen in an american film. The viewers who keep referring to how "boring" this movie is are clearly looking the shoot em' up, yelling, screaming, over-acted tripe that normally comes out of American studios. Clearly this film is one that appeals to a mature audience. And by that I'm not referring to people's ages, but the mental and emotional maturity.

B-O-R-I... n... zzzzzzzzzzz... oh sorry, I almost fell asleep just thinking about the movie. This was nothing more than a "Lifetime" movie of the week. Despite good acting, the editing was horrible and the lack of action was unbearable. Only psuedo-intellectuals who will praise anything not mainstream hollywood (no matter how poor the movie) will rave over this film.
