Fantastic, hilarious film. This suburban nightmare highlights many of the ongoing problems that we face here in America. Bravo.

"FICTION" has the most hurting sex scene, when he takes command and bangs this poor lil' girls lights out! You know she was feeling it, so was the professor. I wonder what they had to do to practice such a scene -- not much~.

I just saw the movie, on t.v. and it's really, not what I expected. I wanted to see it in theatres, but now I'm glad I didn't. It had it's moments. The 2nd part, really spoke to me. Because teenagers actually feel the way the oldest son did. Suicidal, crazy, drugie, smoker... but it tried to hard and made it worse. But all in all, it was pretty okay. I don't recomend it, but if you're in to those type of movies go for it.

This film makes an interesting observation about the different perspectives various people have about the same story. It was entertaining and well acted. The characters were well developed. The fiction part got too explicit for me at times.

I just rented this movie, and found it to be quite entertaining, especially the more light-hearted "non-fiction" part. John Goodman was great as the role of the suburban, career-oriented father. Portrays the typical north american family to a tee! It may not satisfy those who are looking for pure entertainment or typical hollywood tripe, but it is a great commentary piece worth exploring!

I was extremely disappointed when I walked out of the theater, and even felt slightly embarassed that I dragged a bunch of friends to see it. The whole group of us didn't like it."Non Fiction" tried too hard to shock and fell short, and by the time it was finished I was left feeling as though there was no point in even including it in the film. The second half "Fiction" was an improvement.

"Non-Fiction", the second part of Solondz's film explores many of the themes that have created such a widespread appeal for "American Beauty" but "Storytelling's" part 2 lacks a fresh or interesting perspective. It's ending left me unsatisfied and shocked by the hollowness and brevity of the movie's latter portion. BOTTOM LINE: The 1st part ("Fiction") is amusing and satirical but the second part ("Non-Fiction") is lacking any originality. I was told not to bother with this film but did anyways. Moral of the story, LISTEN TO YOUR (intelligent) FRIENDS!!!

It's American Beauty and Woody Allen brought together. Of course, people who live such reality, wouldn't like the movie. It takes a lot of courage and humour to laugh at ourselves...

This movie is a smart, self -reflective, sarcastic, and painfully honest social documentary with absolutely hilarious humor! If some people find that not entertaining, its because what could be more boring than looking in a mirror lacking the IQ to even realize that they do.

This film is funny as hell and ENTERTAINMENT with a capital E. Do not pay any mind to the "challenged" individuals that just do not get it.

I DID saw the movie and it was awful... LY boring! It was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life! Wasting money on that thing? It's a total waste, if you have too much of it then waste it on the charity, at least, you did something good! But if you choose to waste money on that movie, it will be an insult for yourself! The movie was bad, the atmosphere was bad, the script was bad,... in conclusion, everything is bad! Sure it is a masterpiece... a MASTERPIECE OF LOSER!

Overall I enjoyed the film, I am not a die-hard Solondz fan but I have appreciated his work in the past. Storytelling by far the closes that Todd Solondz has come to making a mainstream movie; or at least as mainstream friendly as you can get with a director like Solondz. It still has all of the disturbing subjects of Solondz's earlier dark comedies, yet it is not as disturbing/shocking as, say, "Happiness." I found the first segment 'Fiction' to be the best part of the entire film, although way too short. It was both funny and unnerving; it's a shame that the story ends when it is at it's most thought provoking moments. Although I enjoyed the second and longer segment 'Non- fiction', I found that it could have been a little more focused. A few of the sub-plots could have been left out as they did not help in furthering the plot the way Solondz had intended.
