This movie really shows how people in their own way deal with issues in society. We see that the secrets we hold and speak so negatively about end up hurting us in the end when we try to deny them. This believer allows the viewers to see that we are unable to deny who we really are even if a lesson must come with it. Ryan Gosling portrayed a confused and misunderstod character who denied, for the better part of life, his religion and in the end begins to realize that he himself loves who he is inside.

I spent my time throughout the movie trying to understand how Danny could be so violently against something he at heart held so sacred. Yet at the end of the film I found is character to be so honestly tragic that all I could do was weep for him. I did not realize how powerful this film was until its conclusion.

An amazing film that not only touches on the complexities of growing up a Jew in America, but exposes hatred at its roots. A powerful and disturbing film!

This movie is just amazing. It adresses issues no other film will, and deals with a character who in himself is a complete contridiction, not unlike the rest of society. The Believer implies the differentiating of the Jewish religion, and the people of it. And, how you can like or dislike them separately. Not only this, but Ryan Gosling who plays Danny, puts on a highly influencial performance. He molds himself into a character so sure of himself on the outside, however obviously not completely clear on why how he can feel the way he does considering he himself being Jewish. Danny shows how insecure he is when the reporter asks him how he can talk about Jews in such a negative way when he himself is a Jew. Danny couldn't handle the question, and as a result became violent. He has insightful logic, but like every human, is always developing his beliefs, and is probably not sure how he can feel the way that he does.

I saw this movie about nine months ago and it really had an impact on me. It really gave me insight into the minds of many young people and how they can be so confused about life.

This movie is must see for all movie maniacs... Move over, "American History X" and welcome "The Believer". This movie is heart stopping and briliant! Not only was the plot great but the acting was superb, especially by the actor, Ryan Gosling.

The movie was very well done. It was a psychological drama movie and one I could extremely relate to. It was like a mirror being put right to myself and some of my thoughts were articulated much more clearly thru a certain perspective. The movie is a philosophical outlook, and deals a lot with the issue of hatred.

This is a great movie. I was totally socked for the two days that followed the movie. Ryan Gosling screaming out "Jew, Jew, Jew...", I think that scene will stay with me forever. It really gets you thinking. Summer Phoenix is REALLY beautiful! The director did a great job!

Stemming out from very unrealistic setting of a Jew, dedicated to display decisive overt atrocity towards the people of his own inheritance, the story itself is quite an extravant cover-up of this very fictitious character and his unintelligible emotions, unable to resolve it other than killing the protagonist at the end. Maybe only the minds of serial killers can trace the meanings of terrorism, suicidal genocide he is implementing. Very wordy and phoney.

One of my favorite films of this year (AndI've seen almost 200) Many will compare this film to "American History X", but this film is much deeper philosophically, A.D.explores more important issues. Ryan Gosling is fantastic in the role of Danny - one of the most complex and confused characters I've ever seen. Not surprisingly, this film won the top prize at last year's Sundance Film Festival. Go see it!

When freedom of speech was invented some people took advantage of it. Eventually some people used it to shock people A.D.get attention. Today... you are ready to hear anything A.D.anything goes. This movie is all about that. No censure of thought, no editing of words used.
