This is the first of many copycat movies that brought the possibility of an foreign epidemic to the screen and partially that is was an alien (crystaline toxic) lifeform and basically untreatable made it that much more suspenseful. Unfortunately, they took the "War of the Worlds" solution to the problem, meaning that it self destructed, was unfortunate but a great film in it's own merit for it's relatively new genre. A great classic.

Great flic! A true classic in the sci-fi genre. Its style is not overdone and its content is highly realistic. The pace is ever increasing and the climax is truly memorable.
