Nice Movie...

I rarely see Asian movies. One time, my Indian friend took me to a couple of Bollywood movies, and they sucked. But, when another friend took me to Greencard Fever, I enjoyed it. It didn't look like a typical Bollywood movie. It had an interesting melodramatic quality, but, it was entertaining. I learnt so much about illegal Indian immigrants. Especially, I was astonished to know how immigrants use each other to their interests and harm their own peers. The film had intriguing characters, all of them looked new to me, but, most of them looked real. I recommend this film to anyone who want to see a good Indian movie without songs and all that nonsense. Bill.

Hey prospective viewers of Green Card Fever, I have seen the movie twice. I loved it. The main things I liked about this movie is, it is daring. It doesn't pretend to be a goodie-goodie movie of culture clash and romance unlike American Desi etc. It has substance, a lot of stong criticism about racism. Also it shows the difficulties of illegal immigrants. I have seen so many illegal immigrants, but, still this movie offered a very fresh picture to me. Leave aside the low budget, or technical problems which are small, and enjoy the humor and serious insights. Acting was good. But, some actors were niave. Jonnalagadda.

The movie really sucked. We were hoping for a witty funny American Desi style movie that had something to say but instead it lacked any substance. The concept of the movie had potential yet it failed to amount to anything.

Green Card Fever paints a realistic picture at what some immigrants will go through to stay in the good ol' USofA. While somewhat of a comedy, it is depressing and at times because the main character is a likeable, decent guy who is being taken advantage of by a crooked lawyer and a sleaze-bag work placement agent. The story delves between his problems obtaining a green card, his slowly blossoming romance with an angry Indian-American girl, and a Sikh lawyer who is reluctant to help immigrants referred to him by his do-gooder grandfather. The movie is touching, the characters are cute where they're suppose to be, and we are exposed to the vast world of inhuman scum that preys on hapless immigrants. However, this movie is plagued with terrible acting at almost every corner. The main character and his love interest are not bad, but the supporting players must have been chosen from an extras agency to fill the roles. The Chinese lawyer and the American judge act like weekly guests on The Littlest Hobo, leading me to incorrectly believe that this was a Canadian movie.
