[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] It was awful! The story was good and actors did a pretty good job, but it is ruined by crap that made no sense! Ex... when they are watching broad way and the barber slashes open the guys thoart and he dies on the spot and nobody in the audiece cared? Hello... I felt like throwing up! Also when the 2 little kids is comparing there privates and the dad walks in? Um... yeah... why the heck did this movie get good reviews? But the beginning was good ^^ then is went down hill!

[...] It's a sweet movie about the strong love a parent has for a child and that family is stronger than anything else. It makes you laugh, cry and feel good about being a parent. The cast were all great and work great together. J. Lo's mini me, (Raquel), is a very talented young girl. Of course, I never have a hard time sitting through a Ben Affleck movie, Ben gave a great performance. I loved the movie and I bought the dvd immediately.

The father/daughter relationships are always quite different than mother/daughter's. However, in "Jersey Girl", it was nice too see the negatives and positives of a dad and a smart, quick minded, observant young daughter interact with each other especially when that family has been through such harships and wants to start fresh. Not always an easy task! I enjoyed this film quite a bit. I wouldn't go see movies like this on a regular bases however, once in awhile I am pleasantly surprised.

A cute little movie about father-daughter relationships and the conflict between personally rewarding work and family. There were several touching moments that linger with you days after seeing the movie. However, I was a bit disappointed that all the best parts are shown in the trailer..

I was plesantly surprised by this one. With a title like "Jersey Girl", I'm usually carrying a great deal reservation; which I did prior to seeing this one. But afterwards, I catch myself thinking back to some of the lessons learned from this cliche film and suggesting it to select group of friends. Smith did a good job of casting the little girl - who strangely looks a little too much like J Lo? Might be a rental, but I've give it a nod.

Guys - not as bad as you may be fearing. Yes, it is a "chick-flick" but it's not that bad. It held my attention and made a serious run at an emotional response, but try and get in with a pass or a matine.

... Jersey Girl is not a romantic comedy, it ain't a drama, and it sure as hell is not a action movie. Like all of Kevin Smith's past movies, good LUCK placing it into a category that would describe what to expect in terms of plot, pacing and cast. This movie did remind me of a wedding proposal. If you are the one to propose, you know what you will say, and the type of reaction you want. But what happens after that? What if the answer is no? What of your plans then? The answer, DEAL. As the movie did. Expect the unexpected...

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Although there were some sad parts, there were also some very funny parts. Ben isn't a good crier, and some of the scenes aren't realistic (for instance, when he puts the baby into the car in her car seat, he doesn't strap her in... ) But other than a few looked over details, it was quite entertaining.

If you like Kevin Smith's other movies you will be really disappointed with this one. I knew it was a romantic comedy so it would be different but this offers very little of Kevin Smith's usual uniqueness. As a romantic comedy goes it's still not great.

Horrible. As a romantic comedy, it's ok, as a Kevin Smith movie, it's horrible. All the jokes were badly timed and not nearly as well done as they could have been. If you have to see it, wait for it to come out on video.

I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan. I loved the "dick and fart" jokes in Clerks and earlier films. I also loved his more mature writing in Chasing Amy and Dogma. He is a gifted writer and storyteller. BUT, Jersey Girl is one of the WORST FILMS I've seen in years. I can't even begin to comprehend how Kevin Smith consciously released this HORRIBLE FILM. And believe me... I'm not one of those idiots who'll say that he sold out. The general plot is interesting: a hardcore executive, who loves NY city and his lifestyle, loses his wife and his job. He must then learn to settle for life in his father's house in the Suburbs, where he raises his daughter as a single parent. It's a nice change of scenery for Kevin Smith, but man did he fail miserably. The biggest problem: THE SCRIPT. Most of the dialogue is completely unbelievable. The characters in Clerks and Mallrats talk about stuff that's pretty off-the-wall, but it works because of the context in which they're set. In Jersey Girl, you have an 8 year-old girl who has the brains of a high school valedictorian (a cliche that we're all tired of) But man is that little girl cute, I can't deny that! You have a video store clerk (Liv Tyler, absolutely terrible in her role) who develops a relationship with Ben Affleck that makes no sense and that no one cares about. And Ben Affleck being torn between his life-altering job interview and his girl's musical recital, COME ON KEVIN! I still can't believe it man! There were some touching and funny moments, but this ship had already sunk. It could have been a nice, sweet film, Kevin Smith-style. But the script, cliches and characters dug the movie its own grave, which I spit on.

This movie is truly cute. Ben Afleck plays the most adorable father to the most adorable little girl. The movie is about a guy who's wife died while giving birth leaving the two to fend for themselves, after losing his job Afleck's character moves in with his father to rais his daughter. This movie is truly heart warming and funny. The small knicks and butts make it interesting and adorable. You will not help but fall in love with it.

I don't understand how Jersey Girl was rated 7.5 out of 10? It was a true, touching story about one man's struggle to accept his new, not-so-appealing job, living with his father again, and most importantly of all, raising his daughter and learning to forget the past and worry about the present. It was really good!

O. K. well I am definitely a Kevin Smith Fan, but if you are expecting to see the typical Smith movie then don't bother seeing this. What he is trying to show you with this film is that he is more than capable of producing a film that isn't all about rude comedy, lude behaviour, or (suttle) politically incorrect scenes. Smith comes up with a heart warming film that still has that "independant" feel to it. Needless to say anything Kevin Smith makes I will go see... best writer/director out there hands down. Unlike many films out there you won't walk out feeling like you've wasted your money trust me.

I can't believe the reviews I'm reading here. This movie sucked. I'm a girl, my favorite movies include Pretty Woman and Beaches, so I'm one to appreciate a good sappy chick flick. But this wasn't a good one. The beginning was good but after the death of his wife and his grieving period, it was all down hill from there. I honestly hated it. The actors were good, but the story line wasn't.

Purists fan from Kevin Smith will be a bit dissapointed, the rest should like it. Jersey Girl fits the genre of romantic comedy. Smith also tries to please his "veteran crowd" by using "dick and fart jokes" which makes a mix that sometimes do not mingle nicely together... Overall it's a decent movie that brings nothing really new to the table except maybe Ben Affleck's career.

A good movie, even though it's a typical American storyline where we can predict what the ending will be. I liked the subtle commentary about J-Lo and Ben A. Being over, with the death of his wife in the beginning of the movie. Well done, overall. :)

Interesting response to this movie. I am a big Kevin Smith fan (his best were Chasing Amy and Dogma-the Jay and Silent Bob one sucked), and it was nice to see him go in a different direction, as he was at risk of getting stuck in a rut. True, it is a little mushy and mainstream, but sometimes it works and for me this one did. Kevin Smith took the edge off the sentimentality most movies of this genre suffer under, and George Carlin was very effective as the dad. If u liked Notting Hill, you will probably like this movie.
