Well this is by far my favorite movie. It's really sad and made me cry. I bought the movie and it was subtitled for me. The subtitles were really poor (well atleast for the dvd I got) but still was a GREAT MOVIE. I loved Won Bin in it and too bad Lee Eun-Joo, the actress in the movie commited suicide in real life not long ago. She's the big brother's fiancé in the movie by the way. The movie can be gruesome at times but clearly expresses the emotions of people in war. It's a classic! Go watch it and you'll surely be touched by the story.

This is by far one of the best war movies made. (besides A bridge Too Far and other classics) The older brother looses his grip on rational thought when he gains media attention from the western world. The younger one sees his brother killing POWs and one of their best friends.

The best movie ever... go see it... buy the dvd... you'll never regret it... such a good movie... although I am a North American, I could understand the heartbreaking feeling and the history of South Korea. I think now I know better about Korea... the best movie...

Although I'm only 12 years old my parents let me see it on video. Since I'm Korean we got one directly from Korea. It really violent with arms blowing off and stuff but it has a real good storyline.

Great film. Some differences in taste due to culture may not be entirely agreeable to North American audiences (for instance, some of the drama was a bit cheesy), but aside from that, it really is a well made film.

Certainly better than any of its recent western counterparts but no where near the phenom that it was hyped to be. Interesting take on the general population of Korea during the war.

It is a little surprised this movie can claimed the best seller ever in korean history. It is a 73%movie. The only major thing it try to say is about brotherhood. The major flaw is unreasonable /strange behabour of the elder brother's killing innocent ppl. He is just trying to get a medal, nothing related that to kill innocent ppl which made the younger brother mad. The whole description there is super weak, I dont see any reasonable ground the brothers should disagree with each other. That is the main ground of the movie but it is totally unreasonable to me. Other than that, the war scene looks very real, worth seeing but not as great as most review claimed.

Well made Korean movie based on Korean War. This movie shows the real victims of the war, and families torn apart. Well written scripts, best battle scenes, very realistic plots, and so on. This movie is better than most hollywood flicks which show nothing but sex and violence. A must see film.
