If you are into chess or chess computers, this one is for you! I had wished Kasparov commenting critical moves over the board, but it didn't happen. What is most important to learn here is that the world champion beat himself. Deep blue did not «win» the match up, as much has Kasparov lost it.

As a chess fan and someone who had read the reviews on this site I expected more from this movie. Not much suspense, a lot of repetition especially of shots of the 'Turk', a lot of back-and-forth scenes. After 20-30 mins the movie lost me. Not worth spending $9 and 1.5 hrs of your time.

THe filming is probably the worst ever, but the content is very interesting in brings up the debate of men vs machine to another level one that we have never lost, the cognitive.

I love to see passionate people no matter what the subject is. It's always inspring. Kasparov is truly someone who puts everything he can for his passion and that is remarkable.

It is hard to evaluate the accuracy of the attempted foul play complaint by Kasparov. There is no doubt when watching the movie that Kasparov was more than suprised in game two where Deep blue surprises him with an ingenious move. Regardless, what I will remember most of the whole thing was the fact that he never trully recovered from the "psycological" defeat. By giving up on game six, he sacrificed more than a simple victory. IBM did have more to gain financially from the event... and it did. Was there foul play? Perhaps but what is more intriguing was his reaction to it. One of the greatest minds and chess players of the century proved the quintessential weakness of beeing human. As a documentary sort of movie, it is a journey through Kasparov's experience of the entire match. For me, it's value as a documentary is in getting to know one of the greatest chess players of all time.

As 1997 will be remembered as the year when the computer beat the world champion at chess, this movie is a kind of "revisitation" of the result, with a play-by-play for each of the six games by our narrator- Gary Kasparov. Kasparov's whimsey about IBM foul play comes in with a magnetic, if overbearing, personality and provide all the suspense we might need. Tidbits about Kasparov's career are given along with interviews of many individuals involved in the match. It is a chess movie; but you don't need to be a buff to enjoy it.
