Anjali (Kareena Kapoor) is the younger daughter of her parents settled in Montreal, Canada. She has an elder sister, Aarti (Sushmita Sen) whom she shares her secrets with. Anjali loves a budding musician, Raja (Akshay Kumar). She tells this reality to Aarti who gives assurance to the lovers that she will convince her parents for their marriage. But unfortunately, Aarti passes away while giving birth to her twin babies. Now, Anjali has to marry her brother-in-law, Aditya Sahai (Anil Kapoor). An older and mature Aditya takes Anjali to New Delhi where they both are settled. Anjali fulfills her duties as a true wife but is not able to bridge the gap between herself and her hubby. The story takes a new turn when Raja walks back in Anjali's life.
