This was a good movie, it really gives a feeling of what it must be like to be in Iraq. It's not anti-war, nor pro-war. It's just a matter of showing humans on both sides. Interestingly enough, a number of the soldiers disagree with the war itself. Some viewers will probably like the free-style rap that is included. Some bits are EXTEREMLY funny. There was no violence in the movie, so don't expect hollywood shootout scenes. It was very worth seeing. Keep in mind: there is no moral, no story persay, and no particular point it seems to make.

This had the potential to be a really good movie. I saw the trailer. It looked good. I read a couple of reviews, they said it was good. I dropped 13+ bucks and now the only thing I feel like doing is stealing myself a Bradley Fighting Vehicle and going to look for the turkey who made this thing. How can you mess something like this up? All the ingredients were there for the taking: war, combat, GI's (19 boys really) wondering whether today will be their last. What do we get instead? An endless collage of nightime raids that amount to very little. Even the parts designed to get your adreneline going (as you ride along with the soldiers through the streets of Bagdad, the possiblity of roadside bombs hiding in every piece of trash) we're left cold. I think I understand the point of the film: That big wigs make dicisions with little concern for how it will affect the little guys. However, it all struck me as one man's travel log that he decided afterward to make into a film. It's disorganized, surprisingly boring, and lacks any real human interest. What would have saved this thing was if the filmmaker had followed the daily lives of perhaps 4 or 5 soldiers from Gunner Palace so we, the audience, could get some glimmer into their daily existence, instead of a mish mash of disconnected snipets. Save your cash. Take your girlfriend out to dinner. She probably deserves it anyway. You can thank me later.

without using any bad words I thought the movie gunner palace was a huge flop. Whatever message the movie was supposed to convey it didnt do it very well at all. I was really looking forward to watching it for a long time after seeing the previews but while watching gunner palace I was seriously about to walk out it was so BORING and I have never even thought about walking out on any movie and ive seen some bad ones. Overall I thought gunner palace was a waste of money even though I went on cheap night... barf!
