I really loved this movie for a few reasons: 1) It was based on a Rajasthani folktale, so the simlicity and straight-forwardness of the story-telling was a pleasure; 2) Directing and acting were superb; 3) the mystery of the "ghost" figures; 4) the happy/sad ending. Given that Bollywood has become increasingly Hollywood these days, Paheli is a real pleasure to watch -- purely Indian.

Loved the movie! Very colorful and an interesting story line - depicting ancient culture and traditions. Different! Rani Mukerji ans SRK were an amzing duo as usual - both such versatile actors - excellent to watch. I try to watch every SRK movie.

Many did not like this movie and I can understand. I mean, the begining was very slow and the story was farfetched but hello? Why is it you can watch Star Wars but you can't watch a simple ghost story? It's supposed to be a kind of legend. Since when are legends true to the facts of life? Very colouful, charming performances, memorable songs. Just enjoy.

Very colourful, as all bollywood movies are. Rani and Shah Rukh portray fun loving characters and the picturisation is fantastic as well as the costumes. However, much doubt is left with the story line, it's not very believable, but who says movies just can't be fun, so it doesn't matter about the story line, it's such a FUN movie!

Beautiful movie aesthetically, I love Rani and SRK, but by far one of the most far fetched and ridiculous indian movies I have seen. Don't waste your time if you're looking for a reasonable storyline.

Paheli is a fabulous movie that is presented as a folk tale romance, full of magic and symbolism. The theme of living life to its fullest is hightened by the use of supernatural characters who are no longer living, and yet enjoy the pleasures of life more than the living. A second important theme is the contrast between greed and love, revealing how love is not self-seeking and it surpasses the instinct of survival. Another theme is the importance of trust in love. The costumes are beautiful, and Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee's performances were excellent. It is sad that people cannot separate themselves from their ideological baggages and thus cannot appreciate the magical elements, in a fantasy movie no less. Does it really matter if the ghosts in the movie don't conform to what some people believe in concerning ghosts?

It depends on sum pplz choices. I personally think it was a nice love story... worth watching once... Rani looked amazing and Shah Rukh was good too... it's not a waste of time. Do go and watch it if u like Rani and SHahrukh... LatZ! ))[...]

This movie is a feast for your eyes, and you learn a thing or two about indian culture and traditions. I was suprised to see one of my fav actress in this movie, Juhi Chawla looks amazing! The story is a bit far fetched, and doesn't make sense. You have to watch this movie with your heart, and leave your head at home..

Hmmm I am from Rajasthan and all I can say is that the depiction of Rajasthani culture was very good. It's a fantasy movie like Cinderella, and like most fantasy stories this one also has its own surprises, unrealistic events etc. So if you are going to logically understand the movie you are wasting your money. But if you were going to enjoy and relax and go out for fun, and watch a colourful, and visually attractive movie I would say go.

Taken from fairy tales. Quiet a bit like Ginny in the bottle with romantic touch. Some aspects totally do not make any sense. Funny and not funny. Will not hit the box office but a flop. People only go see this movie for best cast are there.

This movie was amazing... far from usual love stories... something new, very good performance by all the characters but mainly SRK... what a performance.. the end was just too good ( I am talkign about his performance). we shoud keep in mind that it's a folktale... so if u only like modern clothes, actors who drives mustang and so on... the movie is not for you... well I personally think Paheli is onel of SRK;s best movies... very nice background music and also direction is to be appreciated in some particular scenes... in all it's very good movie... those u do have an artistic side would agree with me for sure... SUPER GuuuD.

I read the reviews written by other people here before I went to see Paheli and some were really bad, yet I still went and it was sooo AWESOME! Like there were some parts u might find kinda confusin or like unbeliveable, but you gota noe its like a folktale and the whole thing is VerY magical. The colors, the clothes the whole settin was like a dream! Shahrukh was awesome, like he played characters really well, and Rani was beautifl as always and many surprises apearances by famous actors/actresses! Overall tis soo good and the story is pretty good like it isnt realistic but feels like true magic, and that was prob the intentions of the directors too. Anywho whoever reading should so go watch this :)!

It's a very beautiful, colorful movie. The story is a fairy tale and its presented very well. Of course, Shah Rukh Khan was great in his role. Rani did a very good job too. The music was good, but there isn't any song that you remember after. The film is a must see for the visual beauty, the cast performances and if you want to see something different.

The movie had more mundane songs than anyone could digest. I mean I saw the movie yesterday and I dont remember a single song. The storyline was below average, it left the viewer thinking ok what am I supposed to be feeling right now. And one more thing... for all those people who have seen the movie... did u wonder how the ghost got Rani's character pregnant.

You know what? This movie is worse than even a chick flick. There is no storyline to the movie but lots of songs which lack any catchy tunes. This movie is totally boring and it should be avoided at all costs. I gave this movie a 1 because 0 was not an option available to me. The movie is surely colorful as always because that's the only thing Indian cinema is good at. It is quite suitable for ladies of all ages to go and watch as they will be very busy in noting all the exotic coloured clothes they'll be ordering from India. Other than that the movie totally lack any substance. There is nothing entertaining. I had high hopes because it is an Amol Palekar presentation who is a good actor himself and he has done a few good and entertaining movies. However, if the story is useless what the director can do.

It reminded me a fairy tale and if u start analyzing it, there's alot of potential. But besides this technical aspect, the movie was awesome, very colorful, good music, good acting and quite funny at times. It's worth a watch, I'd watch it again...

Plot was totally far fetched! Also confusing and conflicting characters. I am supposed to care about both the Ghost and the Husband, but than at end... screw the husband? Basically the story is a light backdrop so the lead can do his thing. Excellent production value. Choreography was really good. Also the guys clothes in this were totally cool. I can see myself wearing those shirts with a pair of old jeans!
