The first review...

I am of sufficient age to have seen both 'Rebel Without a Cause' and 'Giant' when they were first released. 'Rebel' was about NOW (then) and Dean was already dead when 'Giant' hit the theatres, but there was nothing to hype 'East of Eden' so it slipped through the cracks for me. I was totally surprised at the impact of this drama. Although the print seemed to be held together by bandaids and the soundtrack was a piece of ****, Kazan had staged a film that has stood the test of time. I understand this now.
