Cinematically, not bad. As far as a realistic plot goes, more like an Arab fanatasy. Several highly unlikely scenes: the man who visits his (young, single, female) neighbour in the middle of the night; the hesitation shown when the suicide bomber sees the child on the bus (and so mercifully foregoes his intended target - in reality, a Palestinian bomber would've cried "Bismillah! Baby Jewish blood to spill! "); his miraculous escape from the Israeli army after being spotted going through the fence (in reality, he would be hunted down like a dog and killed); the "Israeli" who is supposed to be his contact, complete with blonde companion to stress his depravity and moral inferiority (Israelis, unlike Palestinians, don't collaborate with the enemy to kill their countrymen)etc, etc;. Sheesh, what sane, rational people would rent videos of suicide bombers blathering their doctrinaire claptrap before going "boom"? If these people spent half as much time working for peace instead of worshipping their death-cult, AK-47-toting "leaders", their lives wouldn't be the slough of despond shown here. No big surprise that most people who gave it a "10" are of the Middle-Eastern persuasion. As we know now more than ever, even "moderates" of this ilk think murdering random strangers is hunky-dory in the name of jihad. Strange, in the West, a "martyr" is one who is killed for their religion: in Islam, it seems to be one who kills OTHER people for their religion. Go figure.

Excellent movie... Too much American propoganda that overshadows what really goes on in that part of the world. Putting all of the unethical behaviour from both the Israelis and Palestinian extremists aside, excellent movie and thanks for FINALLY showing the other side of this situation with this film. I hope a lot more of this is to come to tell the world the real truth.

Excellent!! A must see. This is the first movie I've ever seen where you could hear a pin drop in the theatre for a good 3 minutes following the ending. Wow! Now that's what movies should do to you!!!

Political views aside, it was a decent film. I went hoping to gain some insight into what motivates people to become human bombs, and I did that. The movie would have meant more to me if they showed what the Palestinians go through. Instead, the main characters are selected as suicide bombers at the beginning of the movie, and we see the last days of their lives. Their motivations are mostly in the background, only occasionally surfacing to the forefront through arguments and conversation. The film would have been better if they thoroughly explored the main characters' motivations.

Humanizing unnecessary abd cruel violence should be construed as a media crime. These boys are lost and allowing a society that is wired in an inhumane manner to guide their false beliefs that guerilla killing tactics are the answer and will remove their feeling of shame and defeat. It won't, but appropriately educating the misinformed will, as will courageous stances against the fanatical masses.

To those who say that " the movie does not reflect the reality, it is too far from being the truth and therefore, the movie is irrelevant". If you want to see the truth in a real documentary, go and see arna's children film [...]

Very courageous approach. My family lives in west bank (Particularly Nablus) whom I visit every year. I can not describe how hrd is to live their lives 24/7. The great thing about this movie is that it shows the humantarian dimension of people who live there, both civilans and miltants and how they feel about their lives away from politics that you see everyday on TV. I give it 10 stars.

I saw this during the film festival. It was a random pick and I thought it was going to be some mellow, romantic comedy. Boy was I wrong. But it was a good movie, nevertheless. The beauty about this film is that the depth of the plot wasn't captured by the screenplay alone - the expressions of each character is what made the movie so exceptional. Hopefully this one will get some recognition.

A one side movie, that does not reflect the reality. Unfor' it too far from being the truth and therefore, the movie is irrelevant. Perhaps, a well made? Maybe, but presenting terrorists in that way is both misleading and not true.

In terms of entertainment and the emotions that this movie stirs, it was very well done and moving. In terms of having the Palestinians and their struggle being portrayed realistically, it is very far from the truth. The Palestinian people are in their position, not because of Israel or their statements of being "occupied". These people are where they are because of their very own corrupt and sadistic government! They are oppressed people because of their oppressive regimes that rule over them. If anything, the Israelis have done more than anyone can understand to help them. The movie is innacurate, and therefore, dangerous. It will make people think that the Palestinian's struggle is due to "Israeli's occupation". It is because of their terroristic and corrupt governments!!

Very Powerful, Very moving, Very realistic. I commend Abu-Assad (director) for his objectivity and courage to tackle such a controversial issue. The movie never took sides and for those who thought that it did, it is very unfortunate that you missed the point of the movie. The protrayal of both sides as the villain and the victim was the strength of this movie. It did present facts that some of us weren't comfortable with (well too bad! That's what's going on) The movie went deep into the root of the problem and gave a whole new meaning to the word "despair". What alternatives can we (the global community) offer the Palestinians before we start our labelling and judgmental views. The movie gets you thinking... A Must See.

The most interesting part about this movie, may well be the attempt to paint it as unbiased. The problem that exists is very real. The manipulation evident in the selective portrayal of the issues is however subtle only by comparison to terrorism itself.

It was excellent... I'm still thinking about it and I've seen it two days ago! It was intense and shows us a prespective that is not often seen on TV. Shows the point of view of a people that never get heard. I loved it!

Excellent artistic quality and good insight into the Palestinian struggle. If you think that the film makes terrorists into heroes, you've really missed the point and that's a pity...

It makes me sad and a bit angry to see that some people blindly gave this movie a 1 on 10 and automatically labeling it as empowering to terrorists. To truly understand something, you MUST try to understand its context. People who were lucky to be born in a place like Quebec and who had a somewhat normal and healthy upbringing cannot BEGIN to gasp what it means to be oppressed, stripped of all human dignity, taken advantage of and violated. I am against the killing of innocent people. I believe that every terrorist attack brings us further from peace. THAT BEING SAID, you have to understand that these people are truly left with no other option. They do not have political power (in other words, no money) and they certainly don't have compassion from the rest of the world. Under these conditions, a passionate hatred is fast to grow inside you. Once again I want to make it clear that terrorism is to be condemned but think for a moment that people don't just sacrifice their lives for nothing. These people are not suicidal and they are not depressed. As ironic as it may sound, these same individuals want nothing but peace and their basic human rights. Unfortunately, they are so desperate to get it that they reach the fine line between revengeful hatred and fighting for what they believe is the most important thing in life: THE RESPECT OF HUMAN DIGNITY. This is very beautifully portrayed in this film. If you watched closely, you will see that the director didn't miss the opportunity to show the contradictions existing within the same people. He is not trying to change people's mind about terrorism, and even less to accept it as a solution... he is simply trying to show that life is not black and white. There is no such thing as the good guy and the bad guy. People who sit and watch injustice on TV everyday and do nothing about it and then go watch movies and give them a 1 on 10 because CNN told them these are the BAD BAD people are just as guilty as the 18 year old who gave his life in hope that one day, somehow, his people will have their dignity back. Go watch it, and THINK.

For once, we can see how the palestinians live, what go in their minds, the paradox of life in palestine and israel. Those who know nothing about the palestinian-israeli conflict, they should see it. Those who forgot how deteriorated the life of palestinians is, they should see it, and those who are blindly biased to Israel, they should go see it.

The movie shows how the Palestinians are BRAINWASHED and totally immersed in a DEATH culture that comletely disregards human life, their own plus those of the Israelis. There is hardly a moment that goes by when the Palestinians show any empathy, or rationale, or benevolence, , , , this movie does realy shows the moslem-arab narrow mindedness (fanaticism) and blind stivinig in blind faith to reach heaven at all costs, , , , it does not show the "other side" and just focuses on the worst elements of humanity, , , , , , , DEPRESSING!!! But real, , ,.

As a movie it is a pretty good production. However it is clearly one-sided and designed to get viewers to identify with or at least sympathize with terrorists. It relies on emotional appeal and selectively avoids facts which would lead viewers to a more rational questioning of the motives of the producers.
