No story, minimal dialogue - absolute crap. It aims to be high art but films need a narrative to keep the viewer interested in the characters. This film had some beautiful touches of cinematography and music but overall what a waste of time! By the third segment (the worst of the 3) I was ready to throw my popcorn bucket and the screen and beg for an editor to shorten my torture. An absolutely aimless piece of "art".

This film is pretentious indeed. Not much of an interesting story to tell, the director had the pretension to do a full feature-length film with it... even though it's divided into 3 stories/segments. The acting is lame in some scenes, esp in the 3rd segment. Not convincing at all. The 'singing performance on stage' scene was so amazingly cheesy the 2nd segment was a pure shocker. The director opted for a silent film-type with some music ballads however. A great concept but not appropriate for this film at all. To remove dialogue sound esp when all the scenes are all essentially dialogues betw the characters, not much else going on, is very risky. Either the director would be so talented and uses some powerful visual content to fill the emptiness created by the removal of speeches and sounds or it's a fiasco, a disaster... and it felt like a disaster.. no emotions were being communicated on screen anymore, simply pretty looking images, costumes and production set. At some point, I couldnt care less about the characters anymore and was getting fed up by the forever stylistic photography. This film is all about style. No content. Quite 2 dimensional, use of symbolism is weak. It annoyed me. The only positive thing about it is the nice photography. It sometimes felt like the director was mimicking wong kar-wai's works.

Self-absorbed, fairly pretentious and overwhelmingly weak narrative - is that the point? If so, maybe you'll like it; not us...
