[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] It is so boring, illogical, and hard to understand. The FREAKING BALL OF FLOUR had been eaten at the beginning of the movie, when they were young. How come later on, when they were old, the clean and completed FREAKING BALL OF FLOUR still existed?

Ok, when I first heard about this movie with all the famous stars in Asia, I was really really excited (C'mon! Jang Oppa~is in it!! )After watching it... I was disappointed!!! OK, THE WHOLE THING WAS ABOUT A FREAKING BALL OF FLOUR!!! Like, common~~~~~~ Poeple don't kill others because some little girl took your food and "destory" your trust for others~~ it didn't make sense!!! Well, there is only one person I liked, Liu Ye!!! The Black Coat guy, he is REALLY GOOD!

If you didn't like House of Flying daggers, this is worst. Flying daggers' visual effects and 3D are done really well. This movie's has worst 3D effect, story line & fight scenes... believe me it's really bad... From: Big asian movie fan.

A very elaborate spectacle that seems empty to me. I found it boring (not the case with Chen Kaige's other films) because of the one-dimensional nature of the characters and the reductionist dialogue (à la Gu Long, the popular 'new style' wuxai novelist whom I detest), delivered in a stilted manner with stupid sounding accents. One could argue that it is a fable, and in fables criteria such as psychological and other forms of realism do not apply; but this one left me indifferent. Much ado about nothing. In the House of Flying Daggers, at least the leading actress is beautiful... Here only the sets are beautiful.

It is a very imaginative and artistic movie. Director Chen Kaige's best work in recent years. There are many operatic (Shakespearean) touches in the movie, which highlight the drama and conflicts. Cecille Cheung is beautiful and elegant although she could use some acting lessons from Maggie Cheung or Gong Li. All three male characters carry themselves pretty well. The CGI effects aren't that great, but who cares? A great plot, and a very good script (much better than that of Flying Daggers) Not to everybody's taste, but if you appreciate opera or theatre, this is a must see.

I love Nicholas Tse's acting in this movie, it's incredible. Finally he gets to show off his talent. The story itself is very sad, and the movie very beautiful.

Worst of Chen's works. I admired him for his 'emperor and the assasin'. Wonder whatever happened to him.

The cinematography, as in many Chinese films, is absolutely great. The scenery, costumes, and settings are immaculate. The story is sentimental and sad but with a moral that should not be overlooked.

Saw the promise in China with chinese version. Very nice picture, good actor/actress, but the story is not very good.

This movie features an obscure plot with TV-quality CGI. Those who understand Chinese will find it laughable.
