Not since the 6th sense have I been to a movie that nailed its ending so perfectly. About a family forced into a road trip in order to take their chubby little girl to a beauty contest, this movie could have easily descended into the ugly tired world of Hollywood cliché. I was expecting one of two standard endings; ether 1) She bombs, and the family has a big tearful group hug reaffirming their love for one another or, 2) she turns out to be a dancing machine, blowing the pretty girls away with her singin dancin power moves. What happens instead is utterly magnificent. This movie is brilliantly scripted, wonderfully directed, and perfectly acted. I strongly recommend it to anyone over the age of 15..
