What an incredibly well made movie! I've never seen such good cinematography in a documentary before. I'm very impressed. And of course, the story of such a beautifull human being is always an absolute pleasure to watch!

I thought this film was incredibly well put together. I was a child when all of this was happening and I learned a ton about this era from a perspective different from the stock footage most of us have been watching all our lives.

Things haven't changed with our neighbour to the south; twice they elected Richard Nixon, twice they elected George Bush, go figure. Good documentary and great sound track if you are a John Lennon fan.

Having lived through the sixties in high school I remembered the Beatles and the controversies that surrounded the members of this band. Pure nostalgia had prompted me to revisit "A Hard Day's Night" a year or two ago. And a different type of curiosity movivated me to see this political documentary. It was a surprise to find out that the man I had formerly thought of as rather a kook and a druggie turned out to have real convictions and to act on them. I am far more impressed now with Lennon than I ever was at the time he was living. Ironically, after all the flak he got from the "religious right" for that remark about the Beatles being more popular than Christ, the long-haired and bearded John singing "give peace a chance" looked amazingly like the religious paintings of Jesus. It took real courage for him and Yoko to take a stand contrary to the "war machine" when they knew they were under surveillance as well as simply pursued by paparazzi as celebrities. Was the murder a consequence of the politics? We'll probably never know. The price of celebrity is high, and the price of integrity even higher. There are few artists in the world now of this stature.

As a huge John Lennon fan, I had to see this movie. I thought I'd read/seen/viewed nearly everything on Lennon's life, but was I wrong! Lots of film clips I'd never seen (I guess Yoko opened the vault) and so much political manouvering that I was unaware of a teenager. My most reflective thought is why aren't we out protesting for peace in today's world situation? I feel we are all too caught up in our own "consuming" world to be out speaking our voice.

"The U. S. vs. John Lennon" is a moving, informative documentary about the peace music and peace work of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. What makes it especially valuable is that it gets at the emotions of John's and Yoko's peace politics, set against the background of the 1960s New Left and the Nixon administration. I recommend seeing it at least twice, for detail.

Well our generation has never been revolutionary,.. almost to a fault. We should all watch and observe what some people have done in their lives to restore what they thought was wrongdoing of their government. I truly beleive that Lennon's heritage will live through generations to come and inspire future "Rock Stars" to become more than what our time leads them to beleive they should be. Music has almost become blatantly boring with bureaucrats counting their money. Rock has and always will be about rebellion. Rebellion of values of non-conformity to what is being observed in the world and vocalizing it for creating change. Its odd how quickly we forget.

I found a trip nostalgic at the same time educational. The music was fabulous too. It was great to attend this screening with my mom.

It was fascinating to see this historical perspective of John Lennon's influence on American politics during the late 60s and 70s - and the political influence on him. This is framed through the eyes of a wide range of people who were active in the unfolding of the events of the time, both directly with John (e.g., Yoko) and indirectly (e.g. an FBI agent and former Nixon staff) It was also very interesting to see some of those people as they are today and to hear their observations from today's perspective. This is certainly a trip down memory lane for those who remember those days. (Great music! Alas, only in snippets. ) But it's also a broad tapestry that brings together many elements of the time and the man into one big picture. For anyone who came into the world after Lennon left it, this film will be a valuable history lesson that is far from dull. (Ya, a history lesson with a great soundtrack! ) All about the politics, music and unprecedented social movement of the time. (And it might help you understand your parents or grandparents better... ;-) Well worth seeing!

I am giving this a 10 because the film did what it had to do and that was present this great man's life as a person who was willing to come up with alternatives to war. The really great thing about this movie is that it is just as relevant today as it was in 1972 and reminds us what we can have if we want it. War is over!

Good perspective of John and Yoko's basic intelligence in the post "Beattle-mania" times.

A peek into the depths of the paranoia of the Nixon government makes for an interesting enough story, but the real treat here is the mounds of wonderful archival footage. The soundtrack is worth the ticket price alone..
