Simple story line, probably retold dozens of times; but somehow this gem of a film gets all the ingredients right... and delivers a must-see work of art.

It's not about special effects, it's not about movie stars, it's about real life. Very good movie.

I just went to see OCTOBER SKY and thought it was a pretty good movie. Sure it doesn't have all that "pizzaz" the big-screen movies have nowadays, but I still think it's worth seeing. It's actually very inspiring. It makes you feel like you can do anything in the world... if you put your mind and heart to it. It's great to know that this is based on true story as well, which shows that dreams don't only happen in the movies. I suggest you go see this movie with your family, or friends. It's a feel-good movie.

A can't miss in the "true story" genre. Simular in time frame setting of the likes of a "Stand by Me". However it loses its charm when it becomes too sappy with the father versus son story-line. Definitly not enough Laura Dern, the film's only familiar face. The film is probably the first good film of the year, but it does not have a strong appeal for today's audience and seems rather plain when you think about it. Good film, nice casting job,and a nice touch during the credit roll. See it at the 2.50 theatre. SMORGASBORG Communications
