I did not like this movie very much at all to long and I did not find it worth watching at all.

It is not a masterpiece per se but a feel good movie with great cinematography. The character built up is quite good and story line is involved. You find yourself rooting for the characters and looking forward to the next scene. 2 thumbs up.

I am not a Bollywood fan. I tend to fight back against major hype. And I was overwhelmed by this movie.

I simply don't understand I saw this movie taught it was the most boring piece of crap ever. How can people say this deserves the academy award there we're plenty of better movies but o ya because this is foreign give it as many awards as possible. People who say these kids are the future superstars of hollywood must be crazy there just gonna keep playing foreign roles it's not like you'll see the Patel kid playing batman one day. This film was so overhyped and just because it's another bollywood movie we give it all the awards possible I feel the academy awards have lost its touch the best movies are not winning what they derserve. This movie was as boring as it get's.

This astonishing piece of movie extravaganza deserves all the hype that was built around it! ; But one has to mention that none of this would have been possible without the novel that was written by Vikas Swarup which was the main inspiration for the movie! ; Then came the brilliant screenplay by Simon Beaufoy and the seemingly impeccable directing skills of Danny Boyle who has chosen a terrific cast for this terrifically original story! As if it wasn't enough to have been born and raised in the slums of Mumbai, India, Jamal Malek and his older brother Salim both witnessed their own family's assasination just like the other muslim kids in their pitifull neighbourhood! ; Then to add insult to an injury, life punished them a second time when he and the other orphaned kids were trying to barely survive, when a gang of thugs lured them down with food and shelter then sent them begging for money which they would end up pocketing themselves! They even burned some of the children's eyes off to make their begging more effective! Jamal and Salim both manage to escape though, leaving behind Latika, a beautiful little girl whom they cared for! Jamal is now 18 and is being arrested by the police for cheating in Mumbai's most watched television show: Who wants to be a millionaire when the show breaks for the night. The authorities think he's cheating because he's 18-uneducated, yet he's gotton all the answers right so far! ; Is this the real reason for his arrest and will he return to answer the final question? And what happens to Latika? ; You'll get all the answers for those questions when you go and see this year's winner of 8 Accademy awards including best picture, best director and best producer! I was particularly impressed with Dev Patel's acting as Jamal! ; Great acting also by Anil Kapoor as Prem Kumar and Saurabh Zutschi as Raj! Slumdog Millionaire is not only a smart and original movie but a feast for the eyes, the ears and the soul and a must see indeed! Enjoy!

Very touching story... The book was much better however but it was to be expected since the movie wasnt 4 hours long. But, the acting was really good, especially the little kids!

Only a few scenes show the reality of the slums, other than that it's just your typical cheesy action/drama. Obviously with so much hype one is bound for deception, but even keeping an open mind doesn't help much. The questions on the millionaire show were so easy! Cliche cliche cliche. They should have at least broke out into dance a few times.

Parts of this movie are hard to watch, but it is real creative writing. It gives us a glimpse of what life is like for someone living in slums, whether it's India, or Chile, or whereever. Well done!

This film is HORRIBLE! There isn't a lot of merit about this comedy romance film! Hahaha! Oh yeah... looks like Dev Patel is "officially" dating Frieda Pinto. He probably knows that he will eventually fall into obscurity if he doesn't go out with her! Thus, Freida Pinto is a cash cow and Dev Patel is the one milking this cow!

I really enjoyed this film. It also makes me think about how much we take for granted. I can't even imagine thousands of people, let alone children, living in squalor and filth.

I saw the movie several weeks ago and I still have those images of children being mutilated hunting me. It depicted the most horrid face of reality although some may thing it was just fiction. It's not an easy movie to watch I was dreading each coming scene, I did not find it exciting and compelling and I would definitely not be able to watch it again. It could have been an eye opener even depicting half of the harsh reality of the slums in India.

I read the book first: Q & A is one of my absolute favourites so I was a little disappointed to see they had removed the element of surprise, eliminated a strong female character and changed the positive lead character into someone rather beaten down and passive. Yes, the movie's great, but the book is far better.

I didn't really expect much for some reason, I just thought it'd be a "boohoo pity me" kind of thing, but it was amazing. It got me thinking all through out and after the movie, not to mention that it made me want to dance.

An absolutely stunning movie, easily on par with Danny Boyle's other masterpieces Trainspotting, Sunshine, and 28 Days Later. Is there a better director in the world? What is has going for it: it's visually stunning as his best movies always are, the soundtrack is impeccable, and I can't remember the last time I cared so much about the characters in a movie. Maybe Sunshine was it. What it has going against it: I have never been to India let alone Bombay, but I wonder how accurately the city and culture are portrayed. Of course I realize this is fiction, but I would like to hear a local's take.

I was able to see an advanced screening of the movie long before it came out. At the time I mentioned that it would do well and even win some awards. It is not too often that I rave about a movie but after seeing this one I told everyone about it saying it was a definite must see. Way to go!

The movie is a perfect mixture of romance and suspense. It will open your eyes to the poverty in the world and how much a young 6 year old went through. From losing his mom in front of his own eyes, to losing the love of his life, this movie is amazing and you have to see it.

Excellent! Proves that non-Hollywood can be many classes better than Hollywood, and that you don't even need professional actors who only sign on the dotted line to take on a role unless they are guaranteed millions of millions of dollars, to bring to screen a universal story that is poignant in its humanity, intelligent in the script, and conveys a whole universe and culture not in words, but in images and choice of location. Bravo all around!
