A pretty lame story line, but this was a fun and entertaining rental. Men will NOT like it though.

This movie starts slow, but gets better as it goes along. The Greek sceans are beautiful, the acting is OK, effects are ok. Overall it is a slow, or rather good movie. I liked it.

This movie sucks. It's very pointless. You shouldn't see it.

OK scenery Uninspired acting and directing At least the theatre was air conditioned so it wasn't a total loss. The sound track was quiet enough that I could nap a bit whenever things got more boring.

Oh boy! Where do I start... I so wanted to love this movie, but there is no chance, very disapointing. Dialogue and story were almost moronic at best. A couple of Canadian refrences was all that I had to hold on to. The entire movie... Nia looked fantastic though, very HollyWood thin, and the leading man very yummy can't wait to see him in a real movie. Maybe because I am Lactose intolerant but way more cheese than any human should edure... And I like cheese, I love silly warm romantic movies like return to me ahhh theres a good movie...

Decent movie. Took a little bit to get going, but had some good humor. Richard Dreyfuss was great.

Ok! Hard to admit my love of cheese but I did like this movie. It was fun and cute and you get to see Greece. Not an oscar winner but so much fun for the summer. Enjoy it.

The only great thing about this movie is the insanely gorgeous greek actor Alexis Georgoulis and of course the beautiful images of Greece. Other than that, wait for the rental!

Where to start. There is nothing good about this movie. The storyline is perfect if you want a movie to fall asleep on. The actors are cast in predictable roles, that go through very predictable scenarios, in order to create the perfect snoozefest. Save your money, seriously.

I loved this movie. Personally I think it's better than 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'. Although the film has a few clichés, the story is well written, and there are a few twists and turns, which make it more interesting. A must see for romantics and lovers of Greece.

"My Life in Ruins" is an excellent comedy starring the Canadian-American actress Nia Vardalos. She plays a Greek tour guide with tourists visiting the ancient Greek ruins. Excellent production and scenery filming. Be an imaginary tourist in Greece, and enjoy your tour while watching this excellent movie. A must see...

Fantastic scenery. First half of the movie is rather dull until the second half picks it up. Feel-good movie, light, entertaining but definitely not on equal footing with "My Big Fat...". Nia only stars in this movie.

Although the storyline is predictable, and the script is pretty weak in parts, I was seriously busting a gut at some points! If you want to see a film that makes you think, this is not the one! But it is perfectly frivolous and fun, which is just what you need sometimes.

I love Greece! And this movie rocks. Maybe even better than the Euro 2004 cup. The Greeks sure do know how to do things right. I mean, philosophy was born there, and the women are the best looking out of all nations.

My 'Movie' In Ruins... A lot of people don't know that before becoming an actress and starrying in the megahit: 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', Nia Vardalos was a stand up comedian and have given a very successful one-woman show right here in Montrea! I have to admit that she looks fantastic in this movie! My Life In Ruins, directed by Donald Petrie and written by Mike Reiss, stars Nia Vardalos, Alexis Georgoulis, Richard Dreyfuss, and Rachel Dratch. Vardalos plays the role of 'Georgia', an underpayed and exploited Greek-American woman who works as a tour guide in Athens-Greece while seeking a better employment more worthy of her degree! She leads a weekly bus tour filled with loud and tacky Americans, rowdy Australians, overly conservative Brits and romantic spaniards! She is generally unpopular with tourists mainly because she concentrates more on history and culture rather than on shopping and the beach! Her romantic life is almost inexistant. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't even come close to 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' which is witty, humorous and involving! Although you do get to laugh at some of the jokes, the script is very poor and often boring, with many lame and repetative jokes, some of which fly right by the audience's heads generating no laughter whatsoever! There are many cheap one-liners! Hence I was pretty disappointed with the movie, although it offers great images of Greece! ; Unless you have absolutely nothing else to do and you have almost seen all the other current movies, I suggest that you save your money for a better movie. I think that Vardalos is thinking: ' My movie's in ruins' right now!

Great feel good movie; plausible story line. Loved the scenery and wondered why I hadn't visited Greece before now. No wonder Tom Hanks 'executive produced' the movie. Take your friends, teenage daughters and have a great time.

Fun light summer flick with great laughs and breathtaking scenes of Athens. I recommend it despite it being a little cheezy, a little corny and often predictable; just don't expect Oscar material. Vardalos is adorable, Dreyfuss is touching and Georgoulis just could be the new hunk à la Gilles Marini!

Why does this need to exist at all? If movies could be created through a process of paint by numbers, a four year old would have made a better film. Seriously.

What a refreshing gem of a movie! No car chases, BIG EXPLOSIONS or paranormal hullabaloo... definitely not your typical Hollywood piece of witless crap! The photography is magnificently done and the story brings back sooo many memories of our tour of Greece. We both loved it!

Definitely a rental at best. I went with a friend and we both were sorry we had bothered to see it. It is supposed to be a comedy. The only people that were laughing, were 65 yrs. And over. I kept looking at my watch throughout the movie. If you think this movie will be as good as MBFGW, you will be very disappointed... not even close! Save your money.

A light-hearted comedy with Nia Vardalos whose role as a bus driver tour guide leads to many hilarious situations. It makes a great tourist video seeing beautiful and historic Greece. Great supporting cast with great laughs especially from the pickpocket shoplifting granny who steals every scene she is in. Guaranteened laughter!!

Ok, generally a movie in which a main character is named Pupi Kakas would not get a winning grade from me. But somehow Nia Vardalos can pull off this combo of two parts low brow slapstick, one part cute romance, one part witty insight. Although even Nia wouldn't have pulled me in without a charming performance from Richard Dreyfuss. I found it a fun, more than one laugh-out-loud, even a few snipits of thoughtful movie.
