DVD: "Death Sentence"
Maybe if Paul Greengrass watched this movie you'd think he'll learn from it. No chicken camera shoots... great. Is a good movie. I hope nobody idolizes Kevin Bacon's character. I give it 8 out of 10.

I thought this movie was great. I love violent and disturbing movies, so this was definitely one for me. I also enjoy a movie that doesn't have the typical "Hollywood" ending. Not a perfect movie by any means but definitely worth seeing.

Are you serious? This movie was so terrible. I don't know what kevins doing. I love the guy as an actor... I was sure it would be good because I like him... but its pretty bizarre that he'd be in such a terribly scripted movie. It was so bad... I went and watched war with Jet Li just to make up for what I had to sit through.

Gotta love Kevin Bacon in this one! Great acting also by John Goodman (the guy should go on a strict diet or he won't be here much longer though...) If you haven't seen this one yet, go now!

The first 10 minutes were great! Seemed that it was going to be good; then it was downhill for the rest of the movie! The amount of vulgarity in this movie, was totally unnecessary and it was so unrealistic... come on now; Kevin Bacon is an everyday office guy and all of a sudden he's shooting up all the bad guys and he gets them all! A one day gun shooting course?!! Just an all around bad movie!

Kevin Bacon is excellent in this movie. The only downfall is the action in the movie and the stars end up with a tiny scratch on their arm or nothing at all. Could be a little more beleiveable!!!

This movie delivers a powerful punch and has everything that you would expect from a vengeance story. However it stays one step ahead of you the entire time. Kevin Bacon does an exceptional job as a father who loses his family after his first son is murdered by a gang of thugs. Overcome by grief, and rage, he sets out to take down these mutations of society and seeks out a swift justice. Also, this film has a very similar storyline to that of Death Wish. Be prepared though... there is a fair share of graphic imagery and riveting violence that will shock and dismay you, and have you flinching in your seat throughout this mad conflict. Really, it just comes to show you how far some people will go to protect their families in the face of evil, and take it upon themselves to exact righteousness, regardless of what will come back at them. I especially liked the final showdown in the ending for Death Sentence. You will be amazed by its outcome. My only criticism is that the police involvement should've not been so distant, but overall it was a pretty good movie. Death Sentence will certainly touch you on many levels and make you feel as if you just got off a roller coaster. Well worth the admission, don't miss it.

Phony storyline... could hardly wait for it to end. It is amazing that talented actors would actually do a movie with such a horrible storyline. Not even worth renting when it goes to video.

Wow this movie was terrible. A whole lot of senseless violence. Some of it was so out of place that it was just laughable. It started off promising, a father taking justice into his own hands, but it soon took a turn for the worst when the revenge just got out of control. If you insist on seeing this wait for the rental.

UGH, there are so many problems with the plot that just completely ruin this revenge flick. Huge amount of violence, however, but it seems out of place given how many dramatical scenes this movie tries to throw at you. That's the huge problem with this movie, it movies from VERY violent thriller to a sentimental melodrama and keeps going back and forth. It doesn't work at all. The first half is really good (great court scene) and then it derails quickly. So many story elements are handled SO badly that I can't even talk about it here without spoiling the movie. I can safely critique how absurd the police detective character is written, given how much of a blind eye she gives to vigilante justice. Ridiculous on every level. Must be avoided.

An interesting idea, if focus had been laid more on the human part of the characters, where it got into a little bit it would have been much better. This way it's just a very entertaining though sometimes too brutal "massacre".

I was fully prepared to enjoy a thug-ass revenge movie. This movie sucks... HARD! ALL the actors are horrible. The dialogue is stupid and cliché. No one believes the words they are saying, so it becomes laughable. The tough gang members are at their funniest when they're supposed to be at their most ferocious. The camera work is nauseating and the lighting annoying and inconsistent. If at least it had been ironic but alas, there are no redeeming qualities to this dud.

The baddest thing about these Bad Guys are they're fake, lame-ass tattoos, and smoking habits. Kevin Bacon saves this film from itself on every occasion where hints at real brilliance are constantly muddled in melodrama. I wanted to love this film but left only liking two scenes.

Sometimes movies are good because they are good you don't need to have a "realistic" story line to enjoy something. I know I have wanted to do EXACTLY what Bacon does when I see stupid gang killings in the news. So what if it is unbelievable, THAT IS WHY WE GO TO MOVIES. It is because we want to see unrealistic killing. They never claimed it was realistic I mean come on AN AMERICAN GOOD AT HOCKEY HAHAHAHAHA...

Worth seeing if you can handle the violence. Some serious flaws and unimanigative story development. Eg: the perp gets creamed by a car at the scene of the crime and yet appears in a police lineup the next day with a few bruises... huh?

Movie was just okay. Formula movie with a few twists but good acting all around. Some scenes did not make sense or carry any weight especially the John Goodman sequences. Acted the part well but why was his character included in the movie? Wait till it is out on DVD and rent it. If you like the big theatre sounds of a shoot em up, by all means, fork out the cash and enjoy.

Not only do I love this movie for its action, but for its raw energy all the way through. I look at this movie as an uncompromising and brutal look at a father going mad with revenge against the murderers of his son. Amazing.

A bit disappointing. Always surprising to see an American movie where the main character balls his eyes out for wanting to kill and then killing the culprits, while the message coming from American culture and movies is that revenge for a just cause is the American way... and how come this guy didn't have firearms at home and didn't think of getting any to protect his family, before the end of the movie. Isn't that also typically American? Weird... The American dream is just that, a dream...

Very entertaining, the movie is filled with thrilling actions scenes, I was sitting at the edge of my seat the whole time. It was very exciting, I also teared up at a few times! The acting is trully incredible, Kevin Bacon is really at his best in the movie! A must see!

What can I say - different strokes for different folks. This is a Hollywood formula movie with a small plot twist. We ended up walking out. There will, however, be people who like the average guy turned hero/avenger theme and get off on all the creative ways the bad guys get blown away - just look at the trailer.

I'd have to say this is one of the better movies I've seen. The trailer set pretty high standards for me, and IMHO the movie definitely came through! I'd describe it as the most intense, on the edge of your seat, feeling what he's feeling movie I've seen. Sure, it's a revenge movie, and sure it's unlikely that he could become such a badass and overcome them. But when you think about it, he didn't do anything extrodinary/ james bond-esque; he just went in with pure hatred and no fear of death. I loved this movie from start to finish.

A revenge movie that tries to be something more. Kevin Bacon delivers a solid performance as the leading protaganist. The story, however, is slow paced because the writer and director tries to build more background to the main characters which overall is poorly executed. There are great moments such as a chase scene, but let's leave it at that. Overall, Death sentence is a good movie and is worth seeing if your an action/revenge movie fan.
