I loved this movie!!! I never read the book, but have seen the movie several times that I finally bought it. I think Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd where superior in the film. I cried when Stockard Channing's character died. The movie is a must see for the ROMANTIC!!!

The movie is great! Some things are not really possible, but what we know anything could happen in life. I was glad when the guy lost his legs! He deserved it. I loved it.

If it wasn't for the noteworthy cast, most especially James Frain, whose portrayal of the warm-hearted, totally loveable and desirable Forney is worth seeing this movie ten times in a row, I wouldn't have bothered. The storyline was outrageously unrealistic. Teenage girls who find universal love from total strangers, a successful career, and the perfect man who not only delivers her baby but cares for and loves as his own, all of which result from her having a baby and being unwed are a rare breed to say the least. Such a fantasy is just what teenage girls from abusive/dysfunctional family backgrounds who fancy giving life to someone that will love them back unconditionally DON'T need to be exposed to!

I just saw this movie on the oxygen channel and I thought it was so good. It was the best movie I think I've seen so far. It really shows some of the problems that teenagers my age deal with. I really recommend this to anyone no matter what age or sex this movie will make you cry!

I've just seen the movie and it left me amazed, staring still at the screen for a few moments. The love story's great!!! And it has many lessons to learn from. I felt as if I've watched a long series. I have not realized that it took me only around two hours to finish the movie for there were so many changes on the lives of the characters which all made sense, ispiring people from the real lives. I used to fall for those tragic films but while I was watching it, I have wished for a happy ending for Novalee and Forney's loveteam! Actually, I think it's all because of the great story! It's already days after I watched it but my thoughts lingered still in the movie. Now, I'm looking forward on reading the book next. Hope to find a copy!!!

I saw 'where the heart is'and read the book two years later. I enjoyed the book so much that I couldn't put it down. I finished it in 6 days. I loved all the character's in the movie and book. I don't think we could find another Natalie Portman to play novalee as well as she did.

I thought it was a 'good' movie. It wasn't Oscar material or anything, but you came away from it feeling as though you looked into someone's life for a brief amount of time. I found myself wishing it was I that was left at the Wal-Mart, just so I could grow both mentally and emotionally as she did. I really respected Portman's character at the end. It wasn't a great script, but she did as great a job as she could for it. I'm looking forward to reading the book. This is a movie worth renting or catching on HBO when you want to make the "passing" time worthwhile.

I adore this movie! It is a bit sappy and predictable, but I think that has more to do with the genre, not the writing it's self. It's a true blue FEEL GOOD movie, and the actors fit their roles perfectly... especially Natalie Portman, James Frain, Stockard Channing, and Joan Cusack. I have to admit, I've fallen in love with Forney :)

Can you say touching!? Many would say this is a chick flick, I would call it a couple flick. Snuggle up with your mate and enjoy a well acted, well written movie that leaves you smiling. What else could you ask for!?

I just saw this movie and I thought it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Its really good and its sad. It portrays how difficult it can be to be a single mom all alone and how much it can help to have someone there for you. It's a got a cute romance in it and a great cast of characters. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it tonight.

I was very disappointed with this film. I read the book recently and absolutely loved it. I couldn't put the book down. This is one of those films that definitely didn't live up to the book, in no way at all. Portman was OK as Novalee, but Ashley Judd & the guy who played Forney were all wrong for their characters. The only thing that Ashley Judd lived up to was that the book described her character as having beautiful lips, which is true. However, after that guy Roger raped her kids & beat her up, the movie glossed over something as horrifying like this by not even leaving her with the scars as the book did. It's as if it never happened in the first place. One of the main themes of the book is that people go through the worst things imaginable, & although they still have the scars (mentally, emotionally, & physically), they find the courage & the heart to move on & improve their lives from the lessons they learned from the heartache. The movie did nothing to bring this message across. And the way they bungled the Willy Jack story. It was as if they just threw a handful of scenes in & just left them where they fell. He didn't fit in at all only as the father of Americus. I must admit I'm quite biased because I had the benefit of reading the book first. However, I feel that even if I didn't read the book, the movie was boring & stupid. I recommend skipping the movie altogether & picking up the book by Billie Letts. Now that's worth a read.

Don't go see this if you're looking for brilliant acting, a great plot, or any excitement whatsoever. It's a drawn-out, sappy chick-flick and doesn't pretend to be anything else. Has some good lines in it, though.

This movie disappointed me: too many irrelevant plot lines are introduced; these only serve to dilute the main story line, which is flimsy at best. I found it hard to like some of the main characters; poor performance by Portman.

I saw this movie and thought it would be the usual teenage fall in love no point movie. But as many of you agree I was wrong, this story goes much deeper. It gives you the true hard facts of how life has it's peaks and valeys. The grey cloud with the slver lining. A recomended movie to lift your spirits.

I love every moment of this movie. I think this movie will have a huge impact on any teenager to teach them to learn more about sex and play it safe. Most of all, guys are guys and at times, they can't be trusted nor to depend on. The only person you can depend on is Yourself. It is an execellent coming of age-movie and the best of all, it suits for all-viewers.

I saw where the heart is and it's a great movie. Nathalie Portman acted very good. I thought by the title the movie will suck but like people always say never judge a book by it's title because you never know what you can find in it. I suggest all people to go see it take my word you will love it.

"Where The Heart Is" is a great movie. Good story, great acting, and pretty funny at parts too! Natalie Portman is truly stunning, and this is definitely one of her best roles in a motion picture. "Where The Heart Is" is an excellent movie and well worth the price of admission!

I've read a few critics' reviews on this movie and they're generally very negative. Even though I haven't yet read the novel, I genuinely enjoyed this movie greatly, for its feel good intent and above all, the acting. Honestly, I believe that the movie was aimed to be simple and direct, which it achieved, so the cliches and unrealistic elements should be overlooked. To me, a motion picture's first job is to entertain, to take us away from the real world into another where we suspend our disbelief. Besides, Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd are especially luminous in their roles as young mothers. On that note, ignore the critics and go, watch, and enjoy Novalee's coming of age journey into a new, compassionate world. You'll come out feeling very good, believe me.
