I was surprised at all the negative reviews this movie was given from other moviegoers although I admit it might not be for everyone. (especially for the shoot 'em up action crowd. I would probably rate this between 7 and 8 but closer to 8. Don't be swayed by the low rating, go see it and give it a chance. That's what I did and I was glad for it! A chunky Matt Damon does a nice job with a good supporting cast.

I'm not a big fan of Matt Damon but he was very good in this movie. It had a very interesting script and some real twists and turns in the plot. If you like a lot of action this is not the movie for you... but if you have an open mind and like something unusal then go and see it.

Awful, boring - no comedy that I could see - not worth paying for. Not even worth your time, if it was free.

Great movie for seeing the exposure of corporate crime and its consequences. Also, Matt Damon was excellent as always.

Horrible is all I can say!!! I basicly paid to go have a nap. It actually looks like it takes place in the 70's not the 90's and the story line is just not interesting. I wondered who in their right mind would hear this story and try and make a movie out of it? Don't even bother to rent it when its released... BORING!

Really worth seeing. Mat D. in the best style. Watch it and you will not regret.

Matt Damon pulled off a complex character (true story) from start to finish! Look for both the Smothers Brothers and including Rose from Two and a Half Men. A serious story with tons of humour.

What a waste of money!. It's hard to believe that our local newspaper gave this movie a 4 out of 5. Boooring... and it doesn't work even as a Comedy, don't go.

Seems like this movie went over allot of peoples heads. There's a reason why this movie is being touted for an academy award or two. It's brilliant on many levels. Anyone who rates this below an 8/10 simply does not know a great movie if it fell on them! Next time I would suggest seeing something like Transformers or maybe Saw. Lot's of non-boring things happen in those movies.

Great movie. There is a nice mix of a little comedy and drama. Those that didn't enjoy it were likely expecting a full comedy or some action, which it is not, but it is an excellent drama with good acting from Matt Damon. Nice plot twist.

Complete waste of time and money. Can someone please let me know where the comedy was? Because I could not find it. Damon's acting was so so.

I thought it was slow-moving and not all that interesting or funny, which they said it was supposed to be. Very disappointed, especially in light of all the hype it received at TIFF this year. Two thumbs down.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] My husband and I both enjoyed this movie. Matt Damon is very convincing in the role. At times we believed his story, at times we felt like the CIA, sitting back, saying Hold on a minute, there's something wrong here. Matt Damon's character is at times pathetic, other times offensive. Is he a criminal or mentally ill?

Good movie not predictable... it's definitely more worthy of a rental as oppossed to a theatre... Matt Damon is quite dumb in the movie so it's not his typical role... but he was comical... it's something different... you peeps are way too harsh.

Great movie, terrific script, interesting psychology, important social commentary. Some people seem to have been expecting an action thriller. It isn't that, but there wasn't a dull moment in it.

Let's look at this film from a different perspective. Mark Whiteacre is the highest ranking executive ever to become a whistleblower for the F. B. I. His story is fascinating and Steven Sodebergh approaches the subject matter in an honest and humorous way. This is a very good film and Matt Damon is believable as the main character. Maybe if all the bad reviewers knew anything about the story, they would have enjoyed the film more, although it's highly unlikely. This is real filmmaking; plot, story, characters and great acting. It doesn't have any CGI so it won't get much attention, but if you like quality filmmaking take a chance on this one.

Wow, I watched this movie a while ago, and whilst on the site today couldn't believe just how low a rating this got. I think this was a great film, and Matt Damon gave a great performance. I'm not quite sure what those who gave this a low score were expecting prior to finding themselves in a seat, but I'm guessing it was something else! The Informant was an intelligent, well directed story of corporate greed (and some idiocy thrown in!), without purporting to be anything else. If you like character driven movies, and have a sense of humor, go see this while you can.

Evidently the people who gave it bad ratings were 1. Too young to comprehend 2. Too stupid to comprehend 3. Just don't like these types of movies. The biggest Category is probably number 2. Morons who can't understand the finely crafted plot. So before you read the other reviews and think it's bad, look at yourself in the mirror. Do you look smart? If yes, go see it. If no, don't bother!

"Meh". That's all I can say. Pretty much "meh" sums it up nicely. Poor attempt at making an interesting movie from an un-interesting topic. The only thing that kept me from walking out was the constant guessing as to the true nature of the protagonist. But it was so not worth it in the end...

This is a tough movie to review. But I will try my darndest! I love Matt Damon, so I was biased going into this movie. Then again, I often find Steven Soderbergh likes to slow the pace of his movies down, so I also had a negative bias going in. The end result was not a bad movie at all, but it could have been much better. Matt Damon was great in the lead role, and you really do feel for his character. He's very quirky and cooky. But the buzz that this could land him another best actor Oscar nomination is totally unfounded in my opinion. He's great, don't get me wrong, but he's nowhere near Oscar great. The overall pace of the movie was very good, so Soderbergh didn't slow it down, thankfully! The general mood is light, although as the story progresses, it gets heavier and heavier. Be warned, you may find yourself a little lost at the beginning... don't panic, things are explained later... I will admit that even I was confused and wondering if I had missed something. 6/10, but a low 6 that almost was a 5.

Interesting story, especially since it's based on fact. Perhaps it should have been sold more of a mockumentary rather than a comedy.
