Pretty much typical Nora Ephron (this time she directed as well as scripted the movie) And I'm not a great fan of her work (except for a few one-liners, the best known occurring in "When Harry Met Sally.") The first two-thirds, though, are enjoyable enough, thanks largely to the performance of the always brilliant Meryl."J & J" would have been more satisfying had the title characters met toward the end (which would havwe saved it from dragging) OK, that didn't happen in the book or in the real lives on which it was based. But, then again, in both of the marriages depicted the husbands are totally supportive of their wives: how common is that?

The script is not necessarily the best, but the acting is brilliant. It is just sad there is this growing apprehension of food lately in the west. Deep love and good food, a combination that trumps everything.

I am again amazed with Maryl Streep, I saw Julia Child in her TV cooking presentation. Maryl not only acts like Julia but even her voice and speech isjust like her. She definitely should win another oscar for this.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Deliceous! A gastronomic treat, especially the scene where they are eating bruchetta... and the sadnesses of her not having children, and the love between both couples.

I have never been disappointed by Meryl Streep - ever! She is hilarious as Julia Child. Amy's alright but Meryl steals the show. Clever storyline but lost a bit of steam half way through, still a good movie. I hear the book is even better.

I went and saw this with my Grandma, and the both of us haven't seen a movie together in a long time. The fact that it incorporated a younger woman in modern day, and an older lady in a past age was absolutely fascinating. My Grandma and I could both relate to the characters, and the plot was awesome. There were unexpected turns throughout the movie that made it interesting and since it was all based on real events, it made it even more enjoyable. I highly reccomend anyone who's looking for a funny, mature movie with quality actors and actoresses to watch this! You won't feel like saying," Why did I waste money on this? ", unlike how other movies make you feel :)

When one thinks of the various components that one judges a movie by such as script, acting, sets, cinematography etc. and how they relate to this movie, I could find no area in which Julie & Julia was lacking. Well done!

I loved Julie and Julia, it is a fantastic movie and no matter what some of the other ridiculous people say it is NOT boring, far from it. I was entertained throughout the whole movie.

Meryl Streep embraces the character of Julia Child with such enthusiasm and conviction. Amy Adams provides the perfect foil for the Julie vs Julia bout!

Loved this movie. Meryl is marvellous, Amy is almost OK. Would have liked more of the movie to have been about Julia Child. I thought Meryl's portrayal of her was excellent!

Absolutely delightful! I saw it twice! Meryl Streep is incredible of course. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Amy Adams was delightfully nature too. It really made me realize how difficult it can be to get a book published. I found it to be an emotionally charged movie.

Not a bad movie - wish I would have known ahead of time that it was based on a true story - probably my own fault for not looking into it ahead of time! But a good movie; Meryl Streep's voice is annoying at fist, but got used to it.

I have to say that I'm usually not a big M. S. fan, but she does a great job in this movie and it is a wonderful story. I can see why the movie scores well across all age groups. Acadamies, anyone?

I spent some time with Julia Child, and am pleased to say this movie really captures her. Didn't think I'd like the Julie part, but it's just brilliantly meshed. A fabulous production. And now, to the kitchen, the wine, the martinis and the fun... bon appetit!

Both Meryl & Amy were superbe! After the movie last night, we were inspired to have a bowl of French Onion Soup & a glass of wine. I'm going to buy Julia's cookbooks now & try some of her recipes, esp. The boeuf bourgignonne.

What a great movie! It's so nice to see a review and get excited about a movie coming out and NOT be let down after seeing it. It was a lot more complex that I would have thought and that made it all the better. Be prepared to look through new recipies after watching the movie!

I usually find Meryl Streep too whiny, but Julia Child’s good-humoured nature really brought Streep out of her usual doughtiness, and the result was something really very lovely. Great movie. Loved the guy who plays her husband too! They work great together. The kind of movie that makes you cry and laugh.

I am a foodie and loved this film. The food was gorgeous and made my friend and I crave old fashioned French cooking. Needless to say, we went out for dinner after the film! Meryl Streep was excellent as usual. What could have been a hollow caricature of Julia Child comes across as warm, authentic, quirky, witty, and very humorous. As an anglophone living in Quebec and an enthusiastic traveler in France, I found her attempts to speak French and mingle with the natives hilarious! Some have criticized the second story about Julie and her blog. But I enjoyed this story anyway--who can't relate to hating your job and trying to find meaning in your life through what you do in your time off?

This is a great movie. I had a wonderful time watching it. However I think there is too much Julie and not enought Julia. I thought Julie sort of sucked, that's why I thought it was fun when it was implied that Julia Child hated her... LOLZ.

Worth seeing for Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci -- and the Julia Child story. Why has there never been a bio-pic on Julie Child herself? Here's a strong, quirky woman with a facinating life who was a real pioneer in cooking in America."Julie's" story, on the other hand, is really kind of boring. Julia Child did not support this blogger because she felt the blog was a more of a stunt and less about serious cooking. And the film doesn't really explain this in the end, it just leaves you having to find that out on your own...

I felt I was at the casino with all the old people. Worst thing is that I didn't win anything. Way too long, had to wake up the old people. But they liked it as there were lots of old scenes back in the day in Paris so lots of them could relate to the days of no food processors. Ah those were the days, no cells, no facebook, no twitter, BON APPETIT...
