I enjoyed this movie so much for two things: the hillarity and the seriousness of the subject at the same time. Chris Rock did a great job and gave us an insight in a world that so many of us ("good hair people") wouldn't have had the chance otherwise! Thank you Chris!

Chris Rock provides a good snapshot of the hair culture of African-American women. Various aspects of the movie are entertaining, amusing, or saddening, depending on how one views them. I have heard people criticize the movie's lack of depth in the analysis of topics like economic exploitation with regard to hair products, and sociological issues around the use of these products. However, such detailed analysis would not be very meaningful without the general background that is provided in this movie. This movie was a good, light documentary on a topic that interested me and had not been discussed before.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I have no idea how the reviews were so high, I watched this movie based on the reviews but was extremely disappointed. It was so boring I started to fall asleep during the middle. The only funny part was when he went to India, and that fashion show was just so disturbing. I wouldn't even watch this movie again if you paid me! Waste of money!

I loved it. I've been wanting to go natural but "people relax, when I am relaxed". I love that the secret is out, it will really help others from different backgrounds understand that our world is and has been affected for years by our hair. Only fault, even more single blackwomen. It seems our own race has i$$ue$ about dating us cause of our hair!!! :(

Unfortunately such a topic needed more depth - informative, at times funny but it leaves you puzzled and empty - is there not one black woman that could be a model of conviction and wisdom to Chris Rock's little girls? Black women of America rise in your natural glory!!! - on the whole I find the film sad and almost racist...

Not an Oscar winning movie/documentary by any means, but sure a very good and very informative movie, going though all the psychological aspect of how certain black woman feel about their hair and how big this business really is! He sure bring his unique twist of humor but behind it, like he's being doing for a litle while on his latest standup comedy, he's really good through humor to make u reflect on serious issues he highlighted during the movie. A nice piece of work.

Yes, quite a good movie, very informative, and what's lacking is not in the movie itself, but the unfortunate commentary it presents of the black self-esteem. The message under the surface saddened me: that some black women are willing to forgo necessities for the sake of their looks, that billions of dollars are being spent, and that this money is not going to black enterprise. Civil rights, where is your influence in terms of our self-respect?

Absolutely HILARIOUS! Chris Rock can do no wrong. I had to drag the boyfriend to see this... he LOVED every minute of it. Black/white/asian - we're all high maintenance and this movie just BEGINS to poke fun at that. LOVED IT!
