User's review

The novelty of eXistenZ for David Cronenberg is the element of comedy, quite subtle but enjoyable even though mixed with profoundly gruesome horror and typically Cronenberg grossness. Allegra turns into an anti-heroine and the evil conspiracy is a maze of ambiguity in an anti-utopian computer world. Cronenberg makes us part of his dream of the absurdity we encounter. Much less of his anxiety in this one than ever before.
