Crap. When in doubt get weird or obnoxious or both. Worked for Hunter Thomson but I why would I want to WATCH that for two hours? Five minutes of Robyn Williams on Letterman is enough.

You must go into this movie with an open mind! It certainly isn't your run of the mill story or movie for that matter. You must have some kind of interest in drug culture to appreciate this film. Acting by Johnny & Bennicio was absolutely killer as usual. Now I don't personally do drugs myself (lol) - but if I were to, I bet it would have the same feeling as the vibe I get from this movie - farrr out!

I've always loved this film. It's a very colourful and charged audiovisual realization of Hunter Thompson's work. For decades, authors and documentary-makers have analyzed Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (both the book and the movie) and still there remain things unsaid about this weird little account of a small chapter in time and space. The drug aspect, unfortunately, will repel most viewers because it's so prevalent. But if you take it as just one condition of the characters' lives at the time, you cease to be destracted by it. You see that the film isn't about drugs but about dashed hopes and the pain of having to move on with your life after you realize that the American Dream is dead.

Fear and Loathing is by far the greatest movie ever written and produced... Johnny Depp was the perfect actor to play the part...

This is the greatest movie ever made. Anyone who argues with me can go to hell. The movie is a huge part of my life and all of my friends' also. I think it made a very big impact on us all. But to tell you the truth, you can never really understand the movie unless under the influence. But there's nothing wrong with that, because you know that is what Hunter intended his book and movie for. Anyone who watches it sober is in a world of trouble and will just think its stupid, but someone on somthing, will definitely appreciate it.

One of the greatest movies ever made in my opinion! Terry Gilliam's addaptation of Fear and Loathing to the big screen is an absolute masterpiece embodying everything I expected of a book to movie translation! Johnny Depp does an incredible job of portraying Hunter S. Thomson!! This movie is different then most in that you feel like your part of this strange and savage journey. Buy the ticket, take the ride..

An absolutely masterful display! Quite possibly the most vivid and entertaining piece of work I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Odds are I'm going to wear out the DVD as I did the VHS version I had before.

Hot damn I've never rode in a film like this before! Seriously this film was a real eye opener when I saw it about this time last year. The role for Depp proves just how versatile an actor he is, he IS Duke! Gilliam as before in twelve monkeys and brazil has proven what an amazing director he is, the dude knows what I like and never lets me down. This film is the basis for so many in jokes with my friends and I and a real inspiration. Tell me about the [...] gold shoes man! Gilliam, shine on you crazy diamond! :)

Benicio is so diverse in this film. Having experimented with my share of drugs, I think the dipiction of the performance by both stars is excellent. The reality of their perceptions while taking drugs is so potent. The way in which the director shoots the film is exactly how one might feel on acid, morphine, cocaine (paranoia) , meth, pot, herione... The actors have created a masterpiece of what it is like to be high & psychotic. I should know I have been there, literally.

This is my all time favourite movie, but beyond the drug-induced antics of Depp and Del Toro, there's a very real story happening. This movie follows closely to the actual writings of Dr. Thompson, without going into too much detail. Depp does a fantastic Hunter S. Thompson, (though in my opinion, didn't live up to the incredible accuracy that Bill Murray did in 'Where the Buffalo Roam') , and Benicio Del Toro played a MUCH more convincing lawyer than Peter Boyle, (who did a fine job,) But I related to Del Toro's character more than I did Boyle's. This movie has something for everyone who watches it. If you want it to be a psychadelic hay ride through the desert because you've just finished eating four grams of shrooms, it is. If it's an accurate work of art, in respect to the hilarious and amazing writings of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, it is, and if it's just another jaunt o' fun by ex-monty python star and "12 monkeys" director Terry Gilliam, than so be it."I'd never advocate drugs, alcolhol, violence or insanity to anyone... but they've always worked for me".

This movie was about the search for the american dream and how two men were living it and were too f@$#ed up to know what was going on. They were living it, they were free and not spending a dime for lodging, just on food and large amounts of mind altering drugs. Getting away with things that we wish so bad that we could get away with. Living in a time of their own and doing anything that came into their head. When I first saw the movie I was amazed. But when I read the book I was shocked and couldn't believe that this man was able to do all the things they did. There is a chapter dedicated to a tape recording that was strapped to his chest. When it was played the you read that he was with people who knew he was f@#$ed up and they were just messin with him, it was the funniest thing I had ever read. The movie was great the book was ten times better.

A great drug-related movie, this film will be an excellent experience for anyone who has experienced chemical induced highs. From pot to ether, remember the crazyness of those times. And for an even more intense experience, the intrepid viewer could experiment with some of those items during the movie. If, however, you don't do drugs, I would not recommend the film because you won't really understand and will probably be offended.

This film is a screen classic. Anyone who is familiar with gonzo journalism and the pursuit of Hunter's Thompson American vision will understand after seeing this movie that there is nothing more scarier in this here world than a man on an ether binge. Benicio is a 220 pound samoan! Hilarious!

This movie is not for the faint at heart. Drug culture and the American dream gone awry. Based on Hunter S. Thompson's novel (and he was nuts) this movie is amazing... The book is great too. The film is done almost identically to it, however. Johnny Depp bald!? Wowsy.

Savage! One stumbles back into the light after having Terry Gilliam tattoo Thompson's lurid, vile and hideously accurate depiction of the clash of cultural monsters on the raw hot desert rock, and you can't help but wonder - "God-HELL, what DID they put on the popcorn? " Pure Gonzo - Must see.
