The plot was exciting and filled with drama. Some parts were humorous. However, the science in the movie was ridiculous--any grade-six student watching carefully can pick out at least one error. For example, Earth's core somehow stops rotating, although the force required to stop it is huge. A team of "scientists" drill to the core using a ship and expect to start it by exploding 1000 nuclear warheads. Of course, 1000 nuclear warheads can't possibly start it, and if the ship is made out of indestructible material, how did they reshape the material to make the ship?

This movie is flat out horrible. Not horrible because of the effects. Not horrible because of the acting. It was horrible because it was an insult to intelligence. SPOILERS ----------------------- Well first off we've got mr. Macho I'm gonna go and fry myself so I can detach some pods from my subterranian train... but lets first explain the details. It's 9000 Degrees Celsius (air temperature) of one of the compartments. They can't flush it with liquid nitrogen (yah that's right, it's used as a buffer fluid to keep the pod cool... but why is liquid nitrogen liquid? Because it's cold. Would it still be cold if it was kept for days at 9000 Celsius? No.).. but anyways they have a suit that can withstand 4500 Celsius... I'll remind you that the melting point of Iron is 1500 C but hey... that's ok. Anyways this dude goes into a room that's 4500 C above what his suit can stand. Does he melt? No. Does his suit melt? Slowly. WHeee. What does water boil at? 100 C. So lets say that he "could" withstand 4500 C in his little imaginary suit. Then he's still 44.5 X the boiling point of water above what's "optimal" living conditions. BUT HEY! HE LASTS A FULL 10 MINUTES! Ok but we will let that slide. What about this. They find "empty" space inside the core of the earth after checking a computer that said they had found pressure at 800, 000 pounds per square inch... Yes they found a vaccum right after going through 800, 000 psi of pressure. That works. Really it does. And black = white. Oh and then they "drill a hole" into this little geode... (like 100 miles below the surface) So they get out of their ship (whee... we're having fun now) And they spend like 15 minutes in the ship discussing what to do... and then 10 minutes outside the ship trying to fix the problem. THEN... yah THEN... the lava starts to pour in. Ooohhh ok. So molten lava will not enter a hole (with much less pressure than it is outside) for 25 minutes. Yes. I understand completely. ---------------------- Ok... enough about what was scientifically flawed. The people they sent down to save the earth were a bunch of untrained pussies. If you were going down to the center of the earth in an untested vehicle to launch nukes... I think you would have accepted your fate. Do they no? They cling to life like babies cling to your momma's titties. That's just not professional (No offense to your momma's titties, I'm sure they're quite enjoyable) Anyways if you read this entire thing you make me sick.

This movie was the all time WORST movie in the world!! I went to see it with a friend and I almost fell asleep it was so BORING!!! I payed attention maybe the first 5 minutes then I totally lost it and didnt pay any attention at all! I kept wishing the movie was over!! The only good parts was when people died and there was blood and stuff, which by the way was only like 1 scene that lasted all of a minute!! This movie was a total waste and trust me, DONT GO SEE IT!! IT SUCKED!

I was pleasantly suprised by the good acting, decent script (infused with a few humorous segments) and great special effects. I felt ripped off when in the Sum of All Fears... the nuclear devastation special effect consisted of a clip from a 1960's 8th grade science film. The Core, at least, incorporated effects that kept you at the edge of your seat. Although for many science fiction buffs, you may found holes in the plausibility of the story line... just suspend your scientific theories and enjoy the film for what it is. A good movie ride!!!

Before I saw the movie, flashes of scenes of the 1960's Journey to the Centre of the Earth entered my mind. Was this movie a cross between Armageddon and Jurassic Park? Your mind can conjure images far better than images on the screen I reckon. Oh well, better luck next time!

This movie was nice! Now in Japan this movie is runing from this week. This situation is first time for me that the Earth's inner core stop rotating. So I could enjoy enough. In it I was interested in a hacker. I want to watch this again on video in future.

One of best Sci-Fi movies I'v ever seen. BUT!!! From the beginning I was expecting showing very interesting moment in phisical aspect of this adventure. There must be imponderability, zero gravitation, inside the Earth, because of compensation of gravity forces - core is the centre of sphere and resulting force equals zero!!! But characters were walking inside the ship as usually. This is the big mines of whole impess.

I have commented on all movies I have seen this year. For very good movies, I do it right away. Then for so-so movies I do them all like once a month. I went back, and found that I had missed one. This one. My point? Obviously, this movie was forgettable. As much as I tried to believe for the sake of the plot, some of the science was too flawed to be believable.

Yes there were aspects of the movie which were boring, preditable or were the plot was shaky. Otherwise I enjoyed the movie. I guese if you appreciate some of the fascinating things about the universe you will enjoy the adrenalin, special effects and acting accompanying the storyline even if the plot is shaky or preditable. What irks me though with most of these movies is the american heriosm (what the hack the movie is made in america by americans) that I believe is often overplayed and unfortunately self-serving and indoctrinatory. More over there is no role for other parts of the world except europe and russia (albeit small) I guese continents such as Africa are irrelevant in the larger scheme of things. Or perhaps the relative "geo-peace" (no earthquakes, comparatively small storms, volcanoes etc.) mean "geo-disasters" will not affect them. Other than that great movie indeed.

This movie was a waste of time and money. I wish I would have stayed home instead of seeing this film. I should have known something was wrong with this picture when in the ads they mention another movie..."this is what Armageddon was trying to be". This was a terrible movie, with terrible acting, and a terrible sense of reality. I just did not enjoy myself, and counted down the mintues I was losing from my life.

I saw the movie and enjoyed it very much. I was one of the extras that spent 14 hours in the cold weather in Windover, Utah and even was present in some scenes with Hillary Swank (my idol) , yet I ended up on the cutting room floor. Plain and simple, this isn't a movie worth paying for. It was okay but it was Armageddon only in the centre of the earth instead of space. The characters were boring and it was completely predictable. I want my money back! This isn't worth my hard earned cash!

Saw "The Core" yesterday, April 24th. I have been a Si-Fi fan for more than 50 years. As a book I would have rated "The Core" as merely so-so, if that. As a movie I found it very entertaining. A few of the plot lines were fairly obvious but the special effects were good. The empty space idea was intriguing. I liked Hilary Swank's performance. Alfre Woodard a fine actress was definitely under utilized. Stanley Tucci, such a terrific actor (nice to see Stanley really smile) I was unfamiliar with Aaron Eckhart and D J Qualls but look forward to seeing them again and Nicole Leroux who played the French scientist and the actor (?) who played the Commander. Over all I enjoyed the movie very much and would not mind seeing it again. Mary-Lou.

I'm really sick of these movies that tempt you with sci fi excitement then let you done with unrealist plots and crap right through it. Why waste your money on a movie when you could spend your money on a film with challenging storie lines and something you can really get yourself into. I don't want to be negative but come on. We need help someone please write us a decent sci fi movie.

This movie WAS good. If you have an appreciation for classic sci-fi a la Jules Verne. Way better than Deep Impact or Armageddon if only because there's less ben Affleck and Bruce Willis and a lot less American flag waving. They actually make the most ridiculous plot senario believable enough to suspend your disbelief and have fun. Plus watching Mr. Tucci act is always like watching butter melt.

This movie I decided to see because hey it's a disatser movie: No plot all entertainment and special effects with a dash of comedy. Now I don't get why all these people hate disaster movies. Because THE PLOT IS SUPPOSED TO SUCK! IT'S ONLY PURPOSE IS TO SEE THINGS BLOW UP AND PEOPLE DYING! Well I enjoyed it even though true the plot was kinda bad but still it's worth seeing if you are bored as hell.

If you expect to see the best visual effects... go and see an IMAX movie... you picked this movie to watch... then bare your own stupidity... this is just an movie of entertainment... what do you look for in this type of movies? FANTASTIC!!! This movie kept my friend and I exhilerated! We really had to stretch our bones when we got up as our muscles were tense through most of the movie. It had great attention to little details and the dry humour was great. The story line was very well done and it's so nice to have a movie not dripping with sex in it. I think that this was the best action movie I've seen in a very very long time. The concept of discovering what's inside the earth instead of outside of it was well done. Btw... I'm female and loved the action. ;-)

Ok... enough about all of you that scream high and dry that this movie is bad. When you go see a movie for pure entertainment (like this one) it should be only fair to relax and leave all that common sense and tiresome hunt for accuracy outside. You know what I think? I think that your brains are so small and uninteresting that you are afraid to sometimes leave them at the cinema door and not find them anymore when you come out, 'cause the garbage man passed and cleaned up. I know I am being nasty here, but since 13 year olds are now fancying themselves film critics, why the heck not? ;-) I thought the movie was a nice adrenaline trip for the most, Hilary Swank looked sexy dressed as a pilot (for the record, I'm a girl and I'm strait... LOL) I went for the special effects and I got a fair shot of my drug, but they could have amped it up a wee bit. I think it is better to see it on the big screen, specifically for those shots; if you really get into it, you almost feel like in a virtual reality simulator, (well ok, I did - and no I didn't smoke anything before! ;-p) Chill out a bit folks, they won't take your medals away if you don't all have an orgasm in front of an artsy foreign movie and scoff at a piece of good ole' brainless yet oddly satissssfying entertainment. Cheerios then... and spend some more time with your inner goof - I can hear it crying from here!

Just watched The Core today, I regret it and I should've watched Tears of the Sun instead. The Core is pretty much the same (if not EXACTLY the same) as Armageddon except Armageddon goes up to heaven while The Core goes down to hell. The special effects was pretty good at first, but the catepilliar train-sjip looks weird. The ship seemed to move inside your blood veins more than a larva of rocks. Not recommended.
