I have been rediscoving VHS movies lately and have been enjoying catching up on some great movies that I missed in the past. The movie "Narc" was one of the most recently viewed. I think Jason Patric was really good in this movie and I don't understand why we don't see more of him in movies. The ending was totally unexpected and came as a complete surprise to me. I would definitely recommend this movie as a must see for those who enjoy a good thriller with a story line that holds your interest for the whole movie. Enjoy!

I wouldn't have gone to see it if I hadn't worked on it (made Liotta's fatsuit) But it grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go. I highly reccommend it if you want to see what a really good film looks like.

It was one of the best movies Ive ever seen. Gray, blood, pain and love... the real world, all aspects of it. U'll either love it or hate it. If u like happy pappy life, fantasy and romance, forget this movie.

Action is a little slow, but that's because they actually take time to build a storyline! Intense movie that requires some thinking, definitely not a beer movie!

This is the best crime/cop movie since "Fargo". There was not one single dull moment and Ray Liotta was absolutely superb.

This movie was reality at it's best. The things we do not see going on in the city's dark corners. Although the storyline is surrounding this plot, it is fitting the way it ends because the tape machine could either be destroyed or it can be used to give the real evidence... Twisted ending.

Sometimes where you see a Movie has an effect about what you think about the Film. Having seen this production at "the Movie Barn" I think my experience was enhanced. The "Barn" is an ill-conceived space, originally intended as a discount store I believe. It's renovation has left it a large maze of dark, low ceilinged hallways lined with empty concession stands filled with piled up cardboard, empty chocolate bar boxes and soda fountain canisters. The actual theatres are small with industrial style seating intended for use in prison cafeterias or factory lunchrooms. The screens are small with visible seams in the middle of them and 70's style ceiling fans rotate above you hung from suspended ceilings of the types reminiscent of poorly constructed rec room additions. The sound and picture quality can only be described as "primitive" but what do you want for 3 bucks? The popcorn is stale, the pop is flat and the napkins are dispensed from toilet-paper like rolls. The Film "Narc" was quite like this also. A frightening journey into the Urban rot of modern day Detroit. Ray Liotta is admirable and very intense in his role as Detective Lt. Henry R. Oak. He actually came close to making me want to soil myself a couple of times. I really enjoy any of his performances, especially when he played the role of Henry Hill in Scorcese's 1990 crime epic "Goodfellows". He's not as good in Narc but still well worth seeing. Just don't go to this Movie for any comic relief. There just isn't any and if this Movie doesn't make you want to move out the Country and live that bucolic lifestyle, nothing will.

Ultra-gritty, ultra-violent cop drama about troubled drug detectives working the ultra-grimy streets of Hockey Town USA, otherwise known as Detroit Michigan. Never before have I seen a person walk out of a picture in the first minute of the show but it happened with this one... obviously a film that is not for everyone. The most amusing moment was when another audience member let go with the loudest hiccup I have ever heard... an odd evening at the movies to be sure. This film reminded me of the cop movies of the early seventies but everything in Narc is ten times more intense including the f-bombs. If the film had been toned down a little, well actually quite a lot, this picture might have got a much wider audience. I guess the producers - which included Ray Liotta - felt they wouldn't be true to the material if they had done so. I give them credit for that, so I'll rate it as a 'good film' for the narrower audience that won't be disturbed by its intensity.

A strong indy cop/buddy FILM - don't mistake this for a movie. This is a film that is very conscious of the artistic choices it is making. As a first time production for star Liotta this is a strong effort. Patrick and Liotta are well cast with both delivering Oscar worthy preformances. Unfortunately the film itself is not as powerful a vehicule as the actors supporting it.

This movie was ok. It did the job that it had subscribed to it... was entertaining and pretty much captured the attention consistently. Basically it's a movie where you get many aspects of the "truths" but none of which can be considered "credible" so you have to go by which one you believe. The very ending... dumb. But other than that... to visit on cheap night you can't go wrong!

Incredible movie. Scenes are so realistic that you actually find yourself covering your nose when they find a rotting corpse. This is what Boomtown would be if it weren't a t.v. show. Excellent scrpt, acting, and pacing. Go see it! (Though it is very violent and disturbing)

I liked this movie even though it's nothing special from any other gang banging cop action suspence flick, it did have its moments and some parts weren't that fun sitting through, but overall I have to say give it a chance and watch it.

I worked on this movie (sound) , so you'd think I'd be biased towards it... I was. Against it. The film had money problems when shooting that left a bad taste in the crew's mouths. But when I finally saw the film... all was forgiven. Great performances... I already knew that. But Joe and his editor did a fabulous job of piecing it together. Love the multi screen stuff. The action is excellent, gritty and overwhelmingly feels real. Alex did a wonderfully chilling job on the images and I personally love what they did with our sound. I am very critical of the films I work on... and this one wins me over.

This movie is really good and it is definitely a must see. No questions about it! And it will be definitely one of those classic stylish thrillers, like "lock, stock, & two smoking barrels", "fight club", "formula 51", "se7en". whoever didnt like the film is an idiot. Seriously, go watch some Harry Potter instead! Omg!

Saw this movie at the Paramount last week with my girlfriend and we both agreed it was excellent. Liotta and Patric were well suited to their roles of "gone wrong" cops. Will probably see the movie again when it hits these shores (UK) early February. One word of warning, if you are susceptible to sea sickness make sure you don't fill your face with popcorn before Narc starts. The first 5 minutes of camera work are shall we say a little shaky...

Very strange movie... If you're prone to getting depressed or don't like the sight of blood, this movie is not for you. Definitely not a chick flick. Stark, brutal portrayal of narcotics officers and their quest for cop killers. Nice twist at the end.

To all those who say this movie looks "canadian" and tv : you know nothing about film-making. The camera work is some of the better work I've seen from american films in a long time. What you're refering to is probably the grittiness of picture. It's A) more realistic this way -less lighting, B) it adds mood, C) different and D) cheaper - this is not a high budget, explosion every two second movie. The story, dialogue, acting, directing and photography are all remarkable. And for once a movie from hollywood has a visually interesting ending, no rap everything in a neat litle bow and heroes walk into the sunset [...] Go see this movie. Why do you think so many give this a 10 and a select few give it ones - 'cause it's a good cop flick and the rest who get bored after the first five minutes are people who should stick to Vin Diesel movies...

A compelling, gritty, dark cop movie. Liotta is superb. Jason Patric is excellent. If you're looking for the typical mindless Hollywood movie, wait for National Security. If you're in for a convincing, stark, realistic cop story, go this film! Thank you Tom Cruise for backing this up..

The first minutes of Narc are stunning. The next 90 is full of copland cliche dialogue and a thin, predictable plot. Essentially, a high budget television film with extra violence. Nothing new to say and no new way of saying it.

Dark, depressing and seemingly devoid of any message. Just as life can often be. If you're bored with hollywood endings and parable-like stories, then this one is for you.

This film has "GRITTY" written all over it. Dark, well done, it got to me completely. It draws you in with its violent beginning and makes you feel bad throughout (it just had to be intended) A movie for the ones who appreciate a realistic look at what being too passionate about your job can lead to and at the darker side of law enforcement (and about their useless bureaucracy and politics) The slow pace was essential to convey the sense of emotional dread that lingers on in this film and it did not bother me at all. Ray Liotta still has the massively violent one liners and antics (I wouldn't want this cop on my case) and does a believable, terrific job. Jason Patric gives a great performance and made me forget "Speed 2" altogether. If you like your movies character-driven, intense, plot-twisted, violent (without the big budget "far-fetched action") and well-thought, then what are you waiting for? For the rest, well... Stay home and watch Vin Diesel's "Triple-X", you'll hate "Narc"...

Come on people! Anyone who didn't like this movie has no appreciation for a gritty, brutal, violent cop/crime flick! This film is the antidote to the barrage of Hollywood buddy cop movie fluff that's churned out of Tinseltown ona monthly basis. Go see it if you like Ray Liotta, Jason Patric or just a bang-on realistic, dirty, compelling cop drama. Ranks high on Jon & Dave's list (and that's saying alot... believe me)

Wow! Like most of the critics said, the best cop movie ever made hands down. The first 15 minutes is worth it alone. Jason Patric and Ray Liotta do a masterful job of bad cop, worse cop. The storyline is flawless and just when I thought I had it all figured out, the ending threw me for a complete loop. I pay to see it again for sure. A must see!

Real, violent and very intense... the way cop movies are supposed to be. We've all grown soft on bruckheimer garbage. Forget the big budget action movie nonsense... NARC has more gut-wrenching authenticity than every other cop movie released in the last 3 years put together.

NARC was real! It felt real. The opener of this film will turn your stomach if you think about it too much. The colors are cold. Joe Carnahan uses the ice cold blue tones to their maximum and achieves a level in filming that is often attempted but rarely mastered. Where Joe leaves off with the ambience, Jason Patric and Ray Liotta pick-up in acting. I have never really liked Ray Liotta all that much and I had lost all respect for Jason after Speed 2. Jason redeems himself here beyond reproach and Ray gives you a performance that will make you respect him. Of the two actors, I think Jason had the more difficult job of pulling the audience into the icy-cold setting of this movie (believe me, the lack-of-color is actually pretty beautiful) Jason Patric did such a great job that I felt compelled to write this to promote NARC. I highly recommend this movie if you like movies that are dark and disturbing to the status quo. NARC will definitely go into my DVD library when it arrives on that format. So, stop reading this review and go see this wonderful movie.

NARC was so darn pleasant that it should stand for Nice And Really Cutie. Funny story... I bought a ticket for the movie at the local cinematorium and I said "one movie ticket for Narc please." Then I said to the ticket salesman, "don't worry dudemeister, just cause I'm going to see Narc doesn't mean I am a Narc, I say smoke em if you got em! " hahahahaha. One reason my reviews have gotten so much attention is cause I'm "down" with the younger generation."Wassup peeps". see what I mean. I keep throwin em out there. Like if I'm on the phone..."Hey suzie, "wassup", I am "chilling" as well. Speak to you "lata". I think my words speak for themselves. Anywho, if you don't like this movie then my name isn't Jennifer Leigh Perzow."SUCKAAAAAA".

If you want to see a well crafted, hard hitting, engrossing movie that reinvents the cop film, I suggest that you go see this film. It is a captivating film that captures you and never lets you go until the final credits. Very powerful performances from Jason Patric (nice to see him back. He delivers a tour de force performance) and Ray Liotta (who lives and breathes the character. A showcase for his talent) This is a movie that is challenging to the viewer. It is very realistic and not sugar coated in the least. It is intense and sometimes brutal in its depiction of the fine line between right and wrong. Well worth seeing. Finally a movie that doesn't compromise or pander to the audience. This is an excellent movie. A must see..

Just got back from NARC... one word... VIDEO! The film has a CANADIAN look to it! (Not that it's a bad thing to look like a Canadian film, it's simply a cheap thing to look like a Canadian film when JO PUBLIC has to shell out $13.50 for admission!)

This is the kind of heavy, intense movie where the characters do things not because they really would, but because the filmmakers think it would make a cool scene. This is a loud, upsetting, but ultimately very silly movie about unbelievable people you wouldn't want to know.
